Default 350Z even with Acura Integra!!

It's not as bad as it sounds, my son got a call last night from a friend that said he came across a 350Z and had a showdown, he said they were even.

Now for the good part, his integra is modded with turbo having clocked 13 sec quarter miles and 329 HP measured at wheels.

Not that I will be using my Z to race like that specially the first few miles but it will be nice to know you could. September 6 +- 5 days is not coming soon enough!!!

Now, what 350Z would be rolling around right now on an engine completely broken in already? And what exec would be dumb enough to race it? He probably saw a G35 or something.

Yeah...I totally agree with carguy.

He must have givin the Z a head start or the integra miss shifted or something ..... 329 at the wheels??? at the crank maybe a close race.....at the wheels the Z would have seen nothing but brake lights.

I agree our racer guy was probably confused, but there is NO WAY a G35 (sedan no less) could have taken the a 329 integra, so it probably was something else. However, if some Nissan bigwig did have the ***** to race a preproduction Z, would there be any chance he also might have done some mods to it. Now THAT would be interesting.

Default here is my 2 cents

I used to own a 96 Integra Turbo with about 350hp at the crank.
My best time was 12.03@113mph with M*H slicks. But on the street, it is NO WAY running close to low 12's, or even under 13's. The reason is no matter what kind of street tires you have, you will not have traction with that kind of power, until you are rolling already. From standing start, you will be spinning tires and not going anywhere.

I tried to race a 1999-2000 Porsche 911 Carrera 2, and we were about even. I was only able to keep up with it after the standing start. Also raced a 91 NSX with mods, it's about even as well.

I think the Z has a great advantage with RWD and bigger tires. That's why it was even with the turbo Integra.

Default Had to sell it because...

When you have over 350hp for that little 1.8L engine, things are bound to break. I had cracked one block and 2 pistons during the times I owned the car. Also one transmission due to too much torque with dumping the clutch with slicks.

Be prepare to spend over $10k for all the mods..

That's why I am staying with Normal Aspirated with the Z... Only if NISMO comes out a "warranty" turbo kit for the Z, then I would consider it.

Turbo sure was fun though...the sound of the blow off valves are very addicted!!

Default that's about right

The Turbo integra is probably making 329 whp with race gas. That what usually happens when you dyno the car since you will be running race gas at the track so you want to tune it on the dyno.

With street gas (92 octane) , you can't run that high of a boost, therefore, making less horse power. i would say the integra would probably running about 10 lbs on street gas making about the same horse power as the Z or a little more.

The Z being RWD would have a jump on the FWD integra ( no slicks, remember it's in the street) but the integera is lighter so they would probably end up even.

FYI, my cousin turbo integra dynoed at 523 WHP at 22 lbs of boost running on race gas don't know what race gas though. With 92 octance, he dynoed at 312 at the wheels with 12 of boost.

I think we are missing the point. Where was he when he raced this. And again, how sure can he be it was a 350z. Maybe a SC430?, or a boxter, who knows. Alot of people (probably 80%) wouldn't know a 350z if it hit them. Even the car buffs, they don't see all the photo's we have.

So can we even be sure it was a Z?

Lets go from there...

Ciao,
Michael
