You must be running leaded gas.

What model/year do you have?

look at the label inside the driver side door. because the way you all are doing it is creating too many variables (now much fuel, weight of driver, etc) and also depends on how calibrated the scale is. so there is no definite answer to this question, just a lot of "well, my car weighed......." type posts. same as the last times this same question has been asked.

Einstein's, 20 gallons of fuel weighs 140 pounds. Do the math.

Nissan updated there 2007 curb weights on the cars. The base is now 3313 full of fluids.

The answer is 3,270 pounds. Is that correct?

The label inside the door lists the maximum weights, not the actual weights.

Mine was weighed on the scales at the Solo National Championships, and it was 3204 with about 5/16 of a tank (about 8-9 gallons in the tank, given that it takes 12-13 gallons to fill up the 21 gallon tank from that point).

I guess that's how much yours actually weighs. Seriously, there are so many factors in how much each persons Z ACTUALLY weighs, such as fluids. This has been discussed many many times. You weighed yours so thats all that should matter to you. Also know that every scale wont be exactly the same.

right. like you posted what your car weighed, and like i said in my post there are too many variables to give just one car weight when you do it yourself.

Actually, more or less, yes.

Like Gooey said, his car without him weighs 3240. So does mine. And we know that the 06-07s are heavier due to a slightly revised interior.

Please actually read the label and do some research.

GVWR is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, which is the MAXIMUM WEIGHT of the vehicle + occupants + cargo -- not the weight of the car.

There's also GCWR - or Gross Combined Weight Rating, which is the maximum weight of the vehicle plus whatever you have in tow.

There's no vehicle that comes with the vehicle weight posted anywhere on the vehicle.

Mine was 3160 on the scales with a little under 1/2 tank of gas.

I don't get it... That seems so heavy for an all aluminum engine two seater. I mean a Corvette has nearly twice the engine and "I think" weighs about 100lbs less than our cars. Where does all this weight come from in our cars?

A while back, I had a 98 WS6 TransAm with an iron block 5.7 liter “a huge pig of a car compared to ours” and it was at about 3500lbs.

You are under the impression that displacement equates to engine weight, which it doesn't.

The LS series motors are single cam whereas your VQ is 4. The VQ is a heavy motor & large in size.

The weight of the 350Z lends itself from the fact it uses a shared platform & the actual construction of the chassis.

please actually read what i said. weighing the car yourself has too many variables and no two cars will weigh the same. thus this is a worthless thread since no ones car is going to weigh the same. no where in my second post did i mention anythign about the frickin label, so get off of that. plus if you can do math you can pretty much figure out the GVW so yeah, there are weights on the label. 3815-450= 3365

I bench press my Z the other day (just 3 reps), I would say it weighs about 3267 lbs., give or take 5 lbs.

I totally understand and thanks for the explanation, however, it would seem that things like a carbon fiber drive shaft and the use of light weight alloys and composite materials throughout the design of the vehicle would make more of a weight difference than it actually does. The old school F-Body's are tanks and really don't weigh that much more, same with the V8 Mustangs. It just seems odd and I have a hard time fathoming it.

I could be wrong, but I believe aluminum is near 50% the weight of the same mass of iron? Take an engine block made of both and it would seem to be a weight difference of something in the 100s of LBS. Add that the V8 is going to have a larger crank more pistons and rods and it just seems like it would be heaver. It’s just something that puzzles my feeble little mind.
