nope they were the stock tires.....i just wanted to test how bad the stock tirds were in the snow
Yeah, that's a big no-no. Basically, any summer tire is a death wish in winter. Not only do summer tires lack the tread to grip in snow but they also are not meant for the temps, which is what most people don't understand. Once you drive on summers below 40F, they really loose the traction and become a safety issue. This is why if you go to tire rack and look up summer tires, they aren't even rated for snow and ice. You're not supposed to use them that way. Opposite is also true for winter tires in the summer. They're meant for low temps so if you drive them in 90F heat, they turn into butter and you'll end up chewing them up in no time.
Honestly, this may be the reason why a lot of people think Z is so bad in winter. It's not the car's fault that it has summer tires and the driver is uninformed enough to try and use them in winter. Having a good winter tire is really key in this situation. My driveway goes uphill and I have no issues getting up onto it with my blizzaks, with sevearl inches of snow on the ground. Right tools for the job and you're good to go.
