Just curious whats the difference from the base to an enthusiast in the 2004 world of the Z? I did have a carfax done but I was more intrested in the time for it to match VIN numbers and to see if there was any kind of accident work done. So what would be the difference in the 04....thank!

yea i saved the ad on cars.com in a pdf. I love the car and all and I got a good price if it was an enthusiast but being a base i got the asking price that edmunds shows. Any ideas what to say...? This was a nissan dealer too

I have a 2004, 6 speed, cloth, no HIDS, no buttons for TCS or anything like that. No steering wheel controls for volume. From what I read on here I should have a TCS button right?

No HIDs would indicate Base. There were no steering wheel controls for radio in 2004, the only controls you would have had were for Cruise. If you don't have them, then it's definitely a Base. Enthusiast would definitely have TCS, lack of the switch again indicates Base.

You looked at the car before you bought it. Nothing was hidden from you. You could file a suit in small claims court. You would have to show that the dealership intentionally misrepresented the car.
Does your contact say “Enthusiast?”

Typically you take a dealerships word on a model, I have never had to second guess that especially a dealer that makes that car.
You are smart though with checking paperwork! Under model it just says 350Z or 350Z Coupe. Ill have to make a post and see if anyone has a carfax account and can do a lookup for me.
Is the census that I have a base though?

From when I ran a free carfax just typing in the VIN # I got
Year/Make/Model: 2004 NISSAN 350Z
Body Style: COUPE
Engine Type: 3.5L V6 SFI DOHC 24V
Manufactured In: JAPAN
Search Results: 12 records found in our database
I doubt it will specify the make of the car... or are you sure.

Carfax works off of the VIN and there is nothing in the VIN to identify the trim level (model). You're buying a used car based on the "what you see is what you get" concept. You had the opportunity to examine it and decide if it was a good deal or not.
All that being said, you might have some leverage with the dealership based on the misrepresentation of the vehicle. You have to have something in writing though. You can't work from "the salesman told me it was an Enthusiast". If they want to make you happy and treat you right, you might be able to get something out of them. Otherwise, the deal is done and unless you have a three day recision period, there's nothing much you can do. As others have suggested, a lawsuit, but again, if there's nothing in writing, you have no case.
