Default MPG Changes?

2003 350z touring 6 speed

I live in central Texas and drive mostly city streets not much highway, i live on an army post so the max speed i get on post is about 40mph. In these conditions im getting around 17-19 mpg. Well Ive been home in Tampa, FL for about 2 weeks and noticed a significant increase in my average mpg. Right now I'm getting anywhere from 21-24mpg driving mostly city streets at a av speed of 40-50mph. Could geographical and speed changes have effected my mpg that drastically? Anyone know of any mods that can improve mpg?

Thanks,
Evo

Driving a consistent 50-60 MPH will give you better gas mileage stop'n'go city streets -- going from 0 to 35 to 0, etc.

yes, you see this more when you have FI because when you hit boost there is more fuel pumping. In an n/a car it exists you just dont know it. Even turning on your car you loose 1mpg or so, running errands and turning the car on and off kills gas. A/C eats gas as well.

its the climate... its more humid in florida than it in is TX.... i live in Killeen/Ft. Hood and i moved from Orlando. trust me, its the way you drive in certain areas that also affects city mileage.... Florida has higher city/business/industrial speed limits than TX and the roads are longer and traffic lights are farther apart in FL. so thats also another thing to consider.

well yea i mean the army post sucks when it comes to stop and go, but i guess i never really connected that to mpg change untill i went somewhere else. So could we add location? as a major factor in what a vehicle will get in mpg? Because the change in mine was pretty significant considering the price of fuel right now. Oh yea and highway miles i get 27mpg on cruise at 80. I guess thats decent.

Air density @ sea level is going to reflect an increase in gas mileage
