Default OK - has this happened to anyone?

Driving to work today - 635 in Irving TX (read: lots of traffic) but moving well at @70mph. Hit a bump in the road and I hear a 'pop'. Look in the rear view mirror and what do I see - my trunk is wide open! WTF! I had to pull over, close it, and get moving again.

I searched but did not see this issue. Anyone else have this happen to them?

It's a '06 Roadster - hit 900 miles on it this morning.

TIA

Lightbulb I have not...

really read anything on this. Is it possible it wasn't fully secured to be begin with? If it was secured, maybe the mechanism has failed for some reason? Stealership trip...?

I thought of that too - but probably haven't even opened the trunk for at least a week.

Anyway - will have it looked at while at stealer when picking up plates....

That would be interesting....but probably not something I'll try.

Strange thing is - when I het the bump - it sounded like someone pressed the remote - I heard the 'click'. But before you ask - no, I didn't hit the button.

Interesting aero - the trunk flew open and stayed open....

I have found my hatch unlocked a couple times while driving in town. I noticed it from the warning light. I think I may have hit the keyfob button accidently once but can't not sure the next time.

The trunk can be opened with the remote while the engine is running? Hmmm. Strange. My Z doesn't work like that. I have to push the rear trunk button outside or turn the engine off and press the trunk button on the remote. Get that checked out.

^That's what I was thinking as well. I have an aftermarket CF light as all hell trunk and no problems.

Oh, and the struts are probably what kept it up.

My struts are so weak in cold weather the lid would stay down even if I tracked it...

It happened to me twice, because I didn't close the trunk well. One time at around 95 mph, I was lucky the the content dind't blew out.
Second time in town when I hit a bump at low speed.
The Roadster doesn't have the door ajar on the trunk, only on the doors (In the European version at least).

Does this happen all the time? If so, take it to the dealer to get it fixed. If not, then it's a one-time fluke and you should worry about it ever again.
