I guess the only real way to tell is to get it dyno'd.

I Keep hearing things like this about the 03 though. My friend has an 03 Performance with everything stock including clutch with about 65K miles. Maybe the engine is just broken in or something.

They switched cars and "his" car still won?

Weight could be a factor. I looked on www.nissanhelp.com. An '03 track weighs 3,225#. An '06/'07 Track weighs about 3,400# (I couldn't quite tell by the chart).
The weight on the '03 thru '05's stayed the same by trim level. The '06 and '07's gained 100#, again, depending on trim level.
I'm guessing the power bump on the '06/'07 wasn't enough to compensate for the weight gain.

I would agree with some of the other members and get you car dynoed and see what it puts down also like stated before did you buy it new or used. I trade my 07 GTI with stage2 Revo software and they would never know other than the car is quick as hell now. Bump the stock out put from 200hp and 207 trq to 275hp and 330 trq.!!

Please have something to back up those claims. I know those are published numbers from nissan but many people here in the mid-a section have weighed their cars at the same track on the same day and found out that there really is no difference in weights (not a huge one at least.) I weighed my car at the track and with me in it (200pounds of asian meat) the car and I weighed a total of 3440 pounds.
Cant say that the calibrations were incorrect because these scales are calibrated very often due to Outlaw races and other races held at the track on a daily basis.
BTW that weight was stock with Nismo catback, stock wheels, spare in the trunk, and quarter tank of gas.

Some guys at the Z assembly plant were messing around on their lunch hour and decided to have a little fun. They made some internal mods on an engine and stuck it in a random car which you apparently got. You're actually running about 400 WHP.

i meant in the sense of beating it. 01 non supercharged cobra runs around 13.5-13.9 .. It has 320 flywheel hp but dynos around 260-270whp. The bad things about these cars is rapidly losing compression.
The cobra is MUCh quicker than the GT of that generation...those dyno at 220 to teh wheels bra.

During 2003, Nissan built 12 NRT (Nissan Racing Team) motors for formula competition. Only 7 were delivered. Word is that 5 motors made their way into 350Zs headed to the United States. There is no documentation as to which 350Z got the NRT motor. You may have 1 of only 5.

As someone said earlier, if you want to prove the differences between each vehicle, have all your friends dyno on the same day, on the same dyno...that, hands down, will give you the best reading of how your Z stacks up!

Everything else though, is the driver...I agree with Alberto, go trap some times and post slips!

On a side note, I know that motors these days are built within really tight tolerances, so each are practically the same but the OP presented a question that I have had for a few months now, the question as to whether factory beast for the '03 actually exist? The only reason that I ask, is that I dynoed my '03 Performance last sept and hit 258.4whp being stock (supposedly)...I thought this was kinda high! Now I bought the car used so I don't know (for sure) if the previous owner did any serious engine work to it...all I know is that there isn't any sign of obvious bolt-on mods (i.e. spacers or piggy-back ecu)! I may be wrong though, and thats what all '03's dyno and am just getting my hopes up!

BTW
- I can post up dyno's if anyone wants to see
- No, I have not trapped times in this car yet, I plan to when spring/summer rolls around in the Mid-A
- I have no stickers anywhere on my ride, but I do have the K&N drop-in

Sorry to jack the thread, I thought it fit the discussion!
