OK might sound dumb, but Do any of you have a factory freak motor??

I ran about 6 differnt 350z's, and I only lost to 1.

I ran two 2007 350z, with the HR, and beat them by a car n 1/2 everytime. Tried from digs, and rolls. Same result.

Ran, a friend 2006 Z with intake, exhaust, plenum spacers, and took him 2-3 cars, and was still pulling.

I have a 2003 Track model. All these were friendly races with friends I know. I wanted to see where my car stands.

Oh and I ran my friends 2001 Cobra. it still has 320hp, and he has intake, and exhaust. I was dead even with him.

My car is 100% stock.

u must have some kind of stickers somewhere on ur car or else theres no other way...

 

Pop the hood and see if there's any Nismo stickers in the engine bay. Remember, 1 sticker = 10whp

In all seriousness, some of possibilities I can think of are 1)you're better driver or 2)because 03's are lighter. But don't count it it.

 

you must weigh 50lbs and can shift like a bugattis tranny..

lol I weigh 190 pounds. We even switched cars, and they beat me with my own car.

Everyone swears up, and down im not stock. I do have a drop n K&N filter tho.

 

an 01 cobra is like racing a regular mustang gt

and no, it's just a coincident that you beat other Zs. there is a lot of factors involved.

 

I raced 3 friends with mustang GT's. All of them with almost the same mods.

the fastest of them were a 2004 GT. which had exhaust, intake, xpipe, and diablo tuner? thats what he said.

I beat him by 2 cars.

i meant in the sense of beating it. 01 non supercharged cobra runs around 13.5-13.9 .. It has 320 flywheel hp but dynos around 260-270whp. The bad things about these cars is rapidly losing compression.

it's true. He could be a much better driver than the rest of the people, shifting perfectly, tire pressure, tires, traction, etc can play a role. IF you actually think he has a "factory freak" , i dont' really know what to tell you.

Actually the regular '99-'04 GT's are 2V engines, the '01 Cobra has the 4V engine that can also be found in the '03/'04 Mach 1. It makes alot more power and runs more than 1/2 a second better.

Just go dyno it with your friends and see how it stands up in HP. Same day every one dyno and see if it is engine . Did you buy it new? The reason I ask is I had a full port and polish on my 05 when I traded it in and the new owner will never know unless he/she has engine work done.

 

You are likely a better driver. What do you run, lets see some times. 20 or 30whp NA wont always equal a win in a race. Ive beaten cars with over 100WHP more than my Z because the drivers sucked at life. As far as switching cars and you still lose-that throws me off!

BTW-the days of freak motors are long gone, engines are built to tighter tolerances than back in the day.
