Are you sure? I only saw one beat my best time at my local track, and it was modded out the ears. My Z was stock at the time.

My friend that was beatifully worded. i have struggled with the idea of an awd salon vs. the rwd z. But its funny the way you worded that is excatly how I feel. Ive had the car for a couple of months now and i still catch myself standing outside and staring at it.

The Z is nice to drive; that's why I bought it. I couldn't care less about outrunning anything. If I wanted a fast car, I'd have bought one. I sold the FD because it was ignorant fast and incredibly impractical. I wanted something I could get in, turn the key and drive. I'm happy.

wrx (i hope you mean STI)? If not, unless your wrx is decently modded, your car will get rolled up and smoked like a phillie blunt against a Z.

He goes on to say that I certainly didn't buy it because it's the fastest sportcar in its price range, nor the best handling sports car in this price range, and it's not the most practical in it's range. Why did I buy the Nissan because it was a Nissan? He stated man I don't get it. If I wanted a Porsche I wouldn't buy a look a like, he goes on to say.

My comment was because it was a Z-car, no one has to ask if its a Sports car by looking, no one has to ask what it is, its either a Z car or a Porsche.
Its fast enough and handles well enough that it puts a smile on my face while standing inside or outside it.

The STi I've driven are impressive while driving but a stop sign they look like a kid that stole his dad credit car and bought 3rd party parts to built it.

And standing outside it almost make you wanta cry or laugh. I know this is objective viewing. I have nothing but praise for the STi drive train and performance but its hard to look at and say its a Sports car more a mud racer/rally car brought to the street.

In hindsight I'd pick a 350Z car over a STi anyday, but I wouldn't race one.

Now if I had to choose one car for all seasons it would be the funny looking awd STi, but for a Sports Car the Z all the way. I got a jeep so I don't need a Subraru. We agreed to disagree.

How would you have answered him with out fist it cuffs?
Now I am a proud owner of a 07 Nismo PPW. I have owned an STi but after a year or so I just have to let it go. The handling just plain sucks. It understeer and oversteer. One lap it can be understeering and the next lap it will oversteer. So unpredictable. I also own a Evo 8(sold) and a RHD Evo 6 and now I have a Evo X in my stable. I am a hugh fan of turbo AWD but I will never buy a STi again period. It has chronic understeering problem right out of the box. The Nismo handles way better and very consistence lap after lap. A couple months ago I raced a 08 STi at Buttonwillow raceway and I followed it a few lap before passing him. With the poor performance of the 08 STi I could pass him anytime I want but I want to tape the STi to see what it got and it turns out the 08 STi understeer so badly. With a turbo and awd it is not much faster then a Z. I was expecting it will pull away with all the electronics and monster torque but it didn't. With all the electronic wizardry it is no better then a Z with no e-nanny. Just for your information my Z is bone stock. check out my video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5zXyPqMj3U sorry i cannot get the sound working.

What I dont understand is why do people think the STI is faster than the Z. The STI is a modded wrx if they had a modded version of the Z frome the factory no comparison. Sti is turboed and the z is no if the z is turboed the Z will humiliate.

After I took that picture, I decided that the Z was the best looking car within $30,000.

Because it is faster...

With equal driver, properly driven, the STi will drive circles around a Z.

Whatever small advantage the Z can gather down the straight, the AWD will more than make up for in the corners. That's in the dry. Bring in water or any slippery stuff and it gets even better for the STi.

Honestly, being able to go faster than "some dude with a modded STi" at a race track means very little. I've lapped some guys driving Ferrari F430 at the track. Should that mean than a stock Z track is faster than an F430? Come on...

To get equal lap times, you have to be a much better driver in the Z than in the STi. A professionals driver in a tub would lap them both anyways.

But hey, what do I know? I've only driven a couple thousand track miles in my Impreza non turbo and my Z... Look at serious magazine testing if you want.

I've got both cars sitting in my driveway right now.

Yeah, you can compare and contrast the 2, but they are 2 entirley different cars in just about every aspect.

My 05 STi is mildly modded(Cobb AP v.2, borla xr-1 mated to a maddad dp, aps cai, cobb sways, endlinks, springs, walbro, perrin fuel injectors, kartboy short throw, and a pro tune. i think thats about it in terms of performance and handling mods.

My 08 350 z is bone stock.

Its my first Z car, let alone my first nissan I have ever owned. I've owned 4 Impreza's(99 2.5, 02 wrx, 04 wrx, 05 sti).

Both are just a pleasure to drive. I think in there stock forms- the Z would pull on the STi on the highway. Where as it couldn't hold a candle to it stop light to stop light. Even modded(and the Cobb sways, springs and endlinks are a HUGE improvement) the STi still doesn't feel as near planted as the stock Z does on the highway. However, on backroads the STi just begs to be pushed where on the same roads I have to be somewhat more cautious with the Z.

All in all they are 2 entirely different cars. I guess they both have 4 wheels and 6 speeds. Other than that, driving both is an entirely different expierience altogether.

In the end for the owner of one to bag on the owner of the other has to e due to insecurity, or not really loving cars in general. they are both great cars.

To the guy that made the comment about seeing out of the back- with the "big wing".....oddly enough, its still far more viewing room with the wing than trying to look out the back of the Z's hatch.

I had a WRX (not sti) before the Z. It was a decent car, but the handling wasn't so great. Plenty of awd grip, but way too much body roll. The transmission was sloppy and inconsitent and on hot days heat soak + turbo meant no power if I turned the A/c on too, forget it.

Now most of those problems could have been fixed with mods but I didn't want to have to change everything to enjoy the car. They are a good base for modding and a stage 2 wrx could probably take a stock Z.

The Sti certainly seems faster than the Z, and they are great cars, but theres an intangible something that I get when driving the Z that I didn't with the STi. Plus the STi costs more new.

Exterior: 350z >> STI
Interior: 350z >>>>>>>> STI

I like the speed, and dont really mind the looks of the Suby, but the interior feels like it belongs in a $8,000 / 1994 car. I'd take the Z any day.

I like the STi and I appreciate the fact that they have 4 doors and good performance. I like them and I like Z's. I am just more of a Nissan person and I love the heritage of the Z. I think an STi would be an awesome unmodded daily driver but I prefer taking the Z to the track.
