Default My Z got totaled twice. New Pics.

With sad news today my Z that I bought new was put to rest. While attempting to leave work, a lady in a Lexus GS300 going 55 in a 40 MPH during rush hour traffice t-boned my car on the passenger side. The police reports states it was her fault. I managed to grab control of it and it ended up on the far right side of the street. In front of my office building of 300 employees that looked on as they left the parking lot at 5pm. Several pulled over and asked if I was ok. I look at my car and it is facing traffic the correct way (not opposite) which simply meaned drivers just passed around. The drivers side was in perfect condition but the passenger side was annihilated. Wheels twisted, fenders gone, windsheild history and the list goes on. Luckily, my car managed to stay on the far right safe from on coming traffic that just passed by looking in shock including myself. Her car during impact bounced off mine and hit another lady in a hybrid type car. We get out, check to make sure everyone is ok and proceed to go through the paperwork. Soon then the police arrived (3 of them) within a reasonable 10 minutes. Immediately the cop asked me to come further away from the wreck as the 3rd cop was coming to park behind my car and occupy the far right lane for traffic prevention. Great I thought. As we stood on the corner, I was giving the police my story of what happened. We both looked at the car together from a distance and he said at that speed, I am surprised you are alive. He goes back to check on the other people, and while I am looking at my car thinking, shes starting to die, easily 4-5k worth of work however she is saveable. I can still come out of this ok.

Not even 10 minutes later, 2 cops, 3 people all together on a corner see a FexEx truck drive right by us and SLAM SQUARE into back of my Z. Adding further salt to the wounds. This sent the Z propelling it 20 feet further, hitting the curb, jumping over the concrete curb, and watching my Z go up a side hill doing a 360 which landed between two trees. Now it was facing on coming trafficc and looking square at me. The cop and I looked at each other, and I asked him, please tell me that did not just happen? Please tell me I am dreaming....Any hopes of saving her were put to an end by a 3 ton FedEx truck. The rear was gone, the bar in the back was touching the roof on my car. The bumper was then sitting in the middle lane and winshield shattered into thousands of pieces. At this point, the level of damage was now labled totalled as it suffered two hits in different areas of the car. The police now had to write a 2nd report and I asked him to be my witness for this 2nd issue. He agreed and mentioned the FedEx driver was clearly at fault.

This happened about 7 hours ago. Since then, I've checked myself out at the hospital and everything, everyone is okay. I am at a loss of words. Drained both physically and mentally which finds me to type this story at 12:00AM due to a million thoughts running through my mind. The scene playing over and over in my head. I have the day off tomorrow to collect my thoughts and start this brutal process of getting a replacement vehicle...another Z? Or go with a Corolla (I cringe) with our great gas prices. I am at a complete loss of words about this situation. I'm 30 years old - a sensible driver yet my car seemed to be a magnet for getting into accidents that aren't my fault. If I wouldn't have had my seatbelt on then I probably wouldnt be typing this message. I thank God EVERYONE is alive and I also thank God that an angel was looking over me. I loved my Z to death and what a horrible way for it to go.

If someone can help me understand this, I have a loan on this car for $6,000 -what does the insurance company do? If it's totaled then it is the actual value of the car minus loan amount = the check I get. Is this statement correct?

Please help

Mark

GEEZ!! Sorry for your loss... That really sucks man. I can't even begin to comprehend it. Had to read this twice.

The insurance company will give you what the vehicle is worth at the time of the accident.

Man, that has got to be the worst and best luck. Worst in that you lost your car, and best that the Fedex truck didn't hit your car first, that you were already out of the car when it hit.

As for insurance, yes. That is probably what would happen.

Sorry for your loss Mang.
You got T-boned at 55mph, yet able to just walked away? Wow.
However that FEDEX truck was just wrong.

Wow man, i am so sorry to hear about your car. But i am very glad that you are okay. and I will try to answer your questions.

1. Stay with the Z.

2. The insurance company will cut you a check for the value of the car and you will use some of the money to pay off your loan (I am almost 100% certain that the insurance money and your loan will not entertwine until you make payments)

3. Stay with the Z

4. Start saying your back is hurting, go to the doctors regualary and maybee try physical theropy. By doing this you can file a "personal injuries claim" with the insurance company.

Normally I would not suggest this becuase its not entirelly moraly correct....But she owned your Z and I think you get something more than some check for the "depreciated" value of your car. (And if you get extra money buy a beater car that gets good gas milage to drive to work and in heavy traffic) ... A.k.a HONDA CRX lol

Well I hope that any of this babble helped!! And once again I am very glad that you are ok and that every1 else is ok.

AND btw....that cop should be recongized for maybee saving your life....making you back away from the car!

*EDIT* You may also be able to file 2 claims, one for the lady and one for the fedex truck, I would contact a lawyer or some1 who works with insurance to find out more.

So sorry to see that you had such an unfortunate accident.

I'm at a loss too. I couldn't believe what I was reading. It's a miracle that you're here. Poor Z.

If you can get another Z do it. Sorry for your loss Mark...Fed Ex & that woman should buy you another Z.

As the cops came and pulled him aside to get his story, a Fed-Ex truck smashed into his incapacitated Z that sat off to the side in a lane. He's safe, Z total loss.

Well if that isn't the most pathetic piece of advice I've ever read. Insurance fraud and frivolous law-suits are the pussiest maneuvers ever. An accident I was involved in this winter whilst my girlfriend was driving was filed and closed, both cars fixed. Two days after everything is settled, the other lady's insurance company called and said the woman will be filing a personal injury claim and needs to speak to her.

I told them, 1. The police report shows no injury. 2. The woman drove home. 3. Did the woman check into a hospital and can show medical bills? 4. Two weeks have gone by. I 100% know that that girl went back home, and her parents or friends said, "Oh you should have said you were hurt, since you're not at fault. Maybe it's not too late".

It's been months and that shady ***** hasn't done anything, thank god.

Well you never know....I was limping around for a week and half with severe back pains and leg pains...I went to the hospital and I have 2 slipped disks and nerve demage in my leg. I didnt even know cuz the damned hospital didnt x-ray the lower back.

And btw make sure you read what i wrote next time before opening your mouth....i specifically said that I normally would not suggest it. And If you knew anything about anything a "claim" is not a lawsuite...Its a file that would go to your personal injuries coverage under your normal insurance plan. It has nothing to do with court, its all handled threw the insurance company. maybee you need to go back to school and learn a thing or 2 about car insurance.

sorry to hear about the loss of your z, i was in a some what a similar accident with my z 7 months ago but didnt get smashed into again aka finishing k.o by another car,

but on the brighter side - new z and if you play your cards right, you can end up with something you wished you had before aka twin turbo and roll cage .)

it seems fair because you wont have your baby to drive to work for the next month or 2 ,

Wow, amazing that you stepped away from the car before the Fedex came through. Sorry to hear your story. That must really get you down.
Hopefully it works out in the end for you.

That is horrible, almost unbelievable. You are incredibly lucky to be alive and not injured. I'm sure your insurance will take care of you.

I know you are probably very angry but if you can post some pics of the wreckage. I don't know about the rest of people but I like to see how the car I'm driving does in wrecks. Sounds like not too well in this case. T-bone is probably the worst accident you can be involved in.

So did this lady in the Lexus run through a red light or something? I'm trying to figure understand how this played out.

Glad you and everyone is alive, I'd get another Z personally... Perhaps in a different color. Lots of people are superstitious about the color making their car harder to see and thus more vulnerable to getting hit.
