I just don't what a fairlady Z is? I see emblems for sale on ebay. Does just sticking it on your car make it a fairlady. Or do fairlady Z's have something special about them?

The 350Z sold in Japan is called a Fairlady Z. There is no difference in the 2 cars except in Japan, the car is right hand drive.

there are only slight differences between 350z's and fairlady z's. fairlady z's are offered in models different than those sold in the us. i think they have the option of getting models with both leather and brembo brakes out of the factory. there are also different hoses that connect from the intake manifold to the inake tube. also, i think that there's a headlight washer of some sort offered on cars sold outside of the us. those are some of the differences between fairlady's and 350's. (and what k2we stated above regarding the rhd)

I would assume that they are different in other ways engine-wise since Japanese gas is higher octane.

Edit: Uncalled for. Check your PMs.

The Fairlady name has been around since the roadsters back in the 60's. I think that every Z has been called a Fairlady in Japan.

I guess the same way they have their Silvia's(240's here) called K's and Q's(Kings & Queens),.not sure whats up w/ that??
as far as the New 350 & Fairlady go,..nothing is different but trim model NAMES,..Engine is the exact same,..maybe little add-ons,..like one has Camera's in the bumper but otehr then that,..just the Little JDM goodeis are all thats different.

and as far as gas goes,.I thoiugh japan had Higher octane too but they don't,....it is the same as ours,..they use a differnet system of rating it,...SOme guy Broke me down on the whoel Jap gas thing,..101 octane over there is actually 93 here,..I will get the exact facts and get back to this thread!! Its true

no, its like putting a type-R badge on a honda in the states, which makes you a dirty RICER.

The question is irrelevant...through the history of the Z cars, why we don't have the Fairlady Z name is for purely marketing reasons...mr. k simply felt the name wasn't macho for the market outside of Japan.

Differences in options and availability are because of respective markets not because of the name of the car itself.

I prefer to think of it as keeping the name as it was intended and not buying into marketing, demographics, and perceived conceptions of how sports cars should be named.

I agree, i dont think it is ricey...the type r badges etc r ricey b.c. those kids do not have type rs...The fairlady is the same as the 350z so i dont see how some1 choosing to go with the japanese badging makes them a ricer or a ***...

Hey Mike Waz.

I can't post a link that helps a member buy something at a better price, but other members can post stuff like this?

Good rules pal

A Rainbow Coalition sticker and a rainbow sticker (assuming it has all 6 of the correct colors) are two different things. Don't disrespect either one....thank you.

Just saw the above post. It has been editted and may I remind him of the rules--no name calling and no racial/personal bashing.

Sorry 'bout that, guys and gals.

According to Best Motoring and some magazines in Japan, the Fairlady Z's engine is the same with the Skyline coupe 350GT(G35 coupe) cause of the 280hp limit in Japan. I saw them have the same output of hp and torque...
Maybe that's the reason the 350Z didn't win the race in the May Best Motoring .... (M3 took the first, G35 2nd, and 350Z was the last...)
