Wow! 15 hp at high rpm. But, 10 hours of installation???

Gee, how much are the cams and installation going to set us back. And, this is a type R warranty voiding deal too no?

Maybe something to do later.

Does anyone have any numbers on these cams yet? I'm curious to see what the grinds are.

I am pretty certain the cams are a type R install but, I doubt a Dealer could ever figure out that you have different cams in the car if you take the car in for warranty problems.

These cams may be good but, I would wait on an item like this since there are definitely going to be better cams in the next few months/years.

I'm thinking these cams are going to be rather tame. I'm personally looking for something with bit of a lope to it, and some good midrange increases. I guess its back to the waiting game...

higher duration is better right i think that means that the exhaust valve and intack is open longer at the same time/over lap more and dous that mean it has a weird ideal. o and also what does lift do.

wow... that was some bad typing S. Crazy.

Lift the how far the valves move off the seat.

Lift and duration combined is custom to the application, but generally speaking... rougher idle and loss of HP in the low-end power band is usually the side effect as you increase duration and lift. You can see it in the dyno chart where the gains are in the top-end of the RPM Spectrum.

Tomei offers 3 cams duration/lift combinations... not bad... but so far I haven't heard any reviews across the three.

Wow, 0.462" is 11.73mm. That seems pretty aggressive considering the race grind tomei cam is only 10.5mm.

Anyone know the specs on the stock cam?

I'd be interested in seeing what kind of gains the other cams are making (or are they the same as the mines cams that were posted a while back?).

The most aggressive cam will give you the most top-end HP and roughest idle. I believe none of the cams currently offered will idle so rough that you'll actually stall... but how rough is rather subjective (just like suspension stiffness).

You'll also be trading low-end HP for top-end HP when stepping up the cam duration and lift... I guess it really depends on where you want your power.

I have the service manual.

replacing the cams=nightmare. probably take you a week as you fumble through removing the ENTIRE front of the engine and then put it back on an hope you did it right.

I'm getting the cams and yes, coughing up the 800-1000 bucks to have a real meachanic put them in.

I've been meanig to post this for a couple of days but haven't got around to it.

Anyway does anyone else find it strange that Nismo states these cams don't require any change to the ECU? The reason I say that is that so many people insist that the ECU will detune any mods so what would be the point of installing them?

Personally I'm not convinced the ECU detunes at all but thought I'd bring it up to see what others think.

what the ECU does is correct the fuel mix within a certain range for 'average best performance'..for example, I live at sea live..if I drive the car say to reno, which is at 5000 feet or whatever, the ECU is going to tweak the engine to try and get a
'normal' ratio for that altitude. ...so I believe that it's going to sort of work with the mods to maximize whatever 'ideal' balance is. It is not a 'limiter'. its an adjuster.

I agree with you!! I've driven too many customers cars with mod's and there is no way they drive like a stock one.
