Question Enough Power?

I have my Z on order, im getting it in about 2 weeks. I was wondering, does the z have enough power so that if i just let go of the cluth slowly, the car will start rolling? If yes, does it do it well enough to use this method when the light turns green (without having the biotch behind in the escalade honk his horn at me for taking too much time), or in traffic?

Thanks!

ummm no. it will go if your on a flat road, but youd be letting it out very very slowly. you gotta give it some gas.

can any car do it? wouldnt imagine any car has enough power at 700rpms to get the car rolling in any short amount of time.

Hey, let them honk their horn if it makes them happy. I wait until the car in front of me has moved far enough that I can engage the clutch the right way...with throttle and all the way!!!

The Z needs to moooooooooooooove!

I had a 1979 Ford F150 with an inline 6 (300cubic inches) and I could release the clutch fairly quickly and it would just skip right down the road, from a dead stop. Had a lot of torque and a heavy flywheel.

Infact I was playing around with my clutch today and noticed this.. hopefully it answers your question.

If you are at a DEAD stop and release slowly it will NOT move more than an inch or so..

BUT if you are slowly moving (2-3mph) and slowly release it, it will keep it steady at 2-3mph.

Yea the RPM's are way to sensitive to make any mad dash off the line like that. You definitely have to nurse the throttle a little to get it going, but it will get going. Even an econobox Honda will get going.
