Although I think they good gas mileage I wouldn't go as far as saying better, especially in the city. I can't think of too many people who solely drive on the hwy

My buddy has an LS1 GTO and hasn't gotten the best gas mileage considering he doesn't drive on the highway much.

and you obviously have never cruised with vettes before because plenty of them also open it up on back roads... sorry you won’t see many roll racing ricer style...

3. Also the demographic that buys vettes they are a pretty affluent group..(just like you would find in other car communites) ever wonder why lingenfelter does so well

4. styling is subjective so I wont comment on that

your comments are just as bad as the guy saying a 350 isnt a sports car LMAO
Sorry, but, I agree with ole Charlie. I never see guys in vettes "open it up" and I, like most, have seen a bunch. Half the time, I see a guy in a vette, he's about 50 with his trophy wife in the seat next to him. Now yes, I've seen vettes at the track, but its alway the older ones (late 90s -early 2000s) driven by guys my round my age, and those cars don't get second looks by your "affluent" demographic.

Point is, the vette is an awesome car, but rarely do you see anyone having any fun with them.

So they sit over there in the slow lanes and smuggly drive slow because they think they are fast whereas they really can't afford to go fast to have a little fun. Secondarily, the cars design is dated. I mean just look at some of the new car designs out now, truly spectacular. The 'vette is a direct decendent of the recent past with no articulation or real design, it looks like a melting popcicle. Sure, they are cheap, but who needs a cheap V8 with todays fuel prices. Corvette needs to revisit some of their early models for inspiration (60's era).
Psst... I get very good mileage in my Vette. Better than my 350Z did
My Z isn't babied either.

As far as the cheap comment... What do you drive?

It amazes me that even with all the information out there, the numbers of ignorant folks is astounding.

No offense, but with my '03Z, im revving ~1800 at 70mph in 6th gear. Unless you are doing 30-40mph in 6th, not seeing how your TA was at 1200rpm.

I think he's saying that he gets 30-40 mpg in 6th on the freeway, because his engine is revving at 1200 rpm...not that he does 30-40 mph in 6th on the freeway. Reading comprehension ftw!

You need to comprehend what you read. I know the mpg he is saying.

I'm saying in 6th gear, on the highway, my rpm's are at ~1800. For him to be at 1200 rpm, in 6th gear, he would only be driving 30-40 miles per hour.

Nice try though, keep playing.

from what I have seen the C6's guys track their cars a ton... most of those guys dont stay stock long.. and alot of them Auto-x, drag race etc....

there is a huge schism on the vette forum, between garage queens, and guys that actually run their cars..... the garage queens are in the minority...

As many vettes as there are around here, I've seen one C5 and one C6 autox.

hey guys,

first post here.

I agree. most vettes you see "don't open them up"...
my brother has an 07 corvette and thats prob the only time i have ever seen the vette move. plus he takes the car sideways almost everyday and i don't think iv really seen that esp not in a vette. Also the vette does get better mpg then the z. the corvette is an awesome car and you really dont appreciate it untill you have driven one.

Who cares what they say, all you should care about is your car and your well-being. I love my Z a little better because it is more durable, I can drive slow and fast, but not Vette fast, just fast enough for me. I'm pretty sure most Vette owners know that at idling, it is very noisy and sometimes unbearable. I love both cars and each has its characteristic, styling for the Z and straight forward power for the Vette. My advice is just do your own thing.
