It's been a very long time since I owned the car and I really don't recall what speed I was or the exact rpm. I just know it was very low. I also had the 3.42 Performance Gearing

 

You are right though about the gearing. As I said, at highway cruising (~70), im hitting easily under 2krpm. Great for mpg. On a level freeway surface, I hit near 30mpg.

My weekly average to and from work (29 miles each way), mix of city/hwy, averages out to about 22-23mpg.

 

I'll give you the point, it makes since that vette owners on a car forum, would be outside the norm for the "typical vette" owner.

But you have to admit, that the vette, to the middle aged white guy, is the equiv to a cadillac for a black guy... it not the actual car itself, but the symbolism behind it.

Its like the middle aged guys that have Zs. They have no idea what My350.com is and I wouldn't even think about confusing them with questions about PSI/Torgue/Cold air intake ect... all they know is horsepower and 1/4 mile time (though most don't even know where the local tracks are)

 

Just remember though; the 350Z owner is rapidly getting a negative stereotype association as well. It's evident just by seeing how many new members of this forum (and some old-timers) behave.

I agree with you on this. I haven't had much experience with people on here yet, but out in about there are a lot of douche-bags driving 350s.

 

There's no negativity at all, surrounding the vette... if anything, they're some of the safest drivers out there (my pop is a vette guy/and cadillac). The only neg thing I can say, is the condescending looks they give out... kinda like the look we give to ricers, that "I have a vette, you broke peon"

 

Most of the locals around here are cool as hell

At the autox there Zs normally outnumber Vettes there. Usually its 1 vette and about 5 Zs.

 

I have no numbers to support this, but I'd assume there quite a few more vettes than Zs

 

haha what a tool thread over there. ironically the guy should probably consider a CRX if he's looking for a cheap AX car. Those things go around cones quick and are a total throw away car...

 

I see about the same amount of C5/C6 vettes around here compared to Zs. When we have the NOLAZ guys come to the autox, normally it's around 10 Zs.

 

Without reading through the thread, my tC was listed as a sports car and was more expensive through insurance then my Z, lol.

 

LOL Ever since early used Z's started hitting the streets in large numbers. Waving to eachother went out at that time as well...

 

does it actually ocure to anyone that on either of those car lists not one can be found for UNDER 20k atleast not brand new or slightly used.

back roads...................What the hell are you talking about back roads, a back road is dirt, I'm talking about the street, you know pavement. Anything with pavement is the street

4. Wouldn't think you could comment about the desigh, Like I said, looks like a melting popcicle, you know the kind that has two sticks up the ***.

3. ever heard of the tail of the Dragon, skyline drive, canyon roads in cali, mountain runs in PA....guess what vette guys drive on those.there are events all the time... what kind of idiot doesnt know what a backroad is....

I am not talking about roll racing on the highway...

Damnit... I hate that stereotype that cadillacs are the holy grail to black people. Matter fact i see more Italians driving cadies then anything else. Especially in jersey.

 

1. Like I said, they don't have any fun on the street, you contend they all go to the track or thats what they believe. I say they are smug and can't afford the gas, kinda of like you. By the way, do you own currently own a popcicle with two sticks or is it your dads. Or maybe you used to own one or want to own one someday. In either case your defense the of the once iconic Corvette is admirable but it fails. The vette is just another American car that failed the design course.

4. like I said ,you can't say crap about the design 'cause it sucks. Because you say you love the way it looks confirms, to me, your sense of styling and lack of. Like I said, if you want good looking vette's go back to the 60's, and as noted previously, the current design is reminisent of a recent dead ancestor.

5. No, ppl like that are readnecks, (not speaking of Z owners, aftermarket Z products beg for a mods) affluent (look up the word) folk by $100,000- $150,000 plus vehicles. Ever seen a modded Ferrari or Maserati, I don't think so. Do that and you'd be laughed out of town. Do you live in a town or maybe on the side of a dirt road. Maybe you can find your way to town via a backroad. When you get here, try having a little fun on the steet with your sports car and don't sit in the far right hand smug lane.
