I got my VIN yesterday.
Order date: March 2, 2002
State: TX
Trim: Performance 6MT, Airbags, floor and trunk mats, aero package
Color: Silverstone
VIN: JN1AZ34D83T10XXXX
Talked with my dealer's inventory manager and she said it now looks like I'll have my Z on 9/24!! The date keeps moving up as the last "firm" date I had was 10/2. Of course, any arrival date isn't really firm until you actually pick up the car!

GM told me end of August delivery right up to the end of August when I went in and looked at his paperwork from Nissan. This is when I read my tracking number (after requesting it three times) and read the delivery date of 12 Sep off his paperwork. Had to show him where the tracking number was but the delivery date was already highlighted in yellow. Also when he sent me an email on the VIN weeks earlier, I knew it was wrong by at least one letter - S34 versus Z34 but didn't trust the rest of it. Turns out he had only that one letter wrong.
Anyhow, didn't make an issue of it, he was pretty embarrased that he didn't know how to read his own paperwork. Would have been different if he had told me delivery was later than actual instead of trying to figure out why it hadn't arrived yet. I was dealing with the GM right up to the purchase/delivery when he turned me over to a salesman. Nice guy, no reason not to tell me what I wanted to know. Never got the sense he was trying to pull any shenanigans. Only conclusion I can come to is the GM just wasn't used to reading the NNA printouts?
In the end, got the car for $250 below Total MSRP as listed on the Nissan website (exactly to the contract signed in January) and he offered me the Security Plus warranty at dealer cost. Also he kept it for me for 4 days as I was away on a business trip.
