![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
does anyone in the va. area have a smart tag, and if so, does the black dotted area behind the rear view mirror affect it, or should i mount it to the side of it?
Thanks

I've got one. Mine is mounted to the black dotted area, behind the right side of the rear view mirror and it works fine.
FYI, I also painted it flat black so that it isn't so obvious from outside the car.

Unfortunatly the sensativty of the different gates varies so much around here.. putting it in the NAV compartment probably wouldn't work.
I have mine right above the mirror towards the driver's side.. I only attach 1 side of the sticky stuff because I move it between my cars.
I used to just hold them up most of the time.. but some gates are tuned pretty far in front of the gate.. so if you don't get it up in time.. you're screwed, etc.
The units can go through quite a bit of material and still work.

Fly-
So you were one of THOSE people that slow up the line because they're holding their tag up!!
I've probably cussed you a few times.
And why are you switching it between vehicles?? Just get a second tag!

That's nice to know that they work from behind the Black mirror dots.
In Florida, we have "Sunpass". I got scared by the install instructions and mounted it right in front of my face and it looks like crap. I"m gonna move it tonight.

Interesting.. In New York, I have 4 tags on the same account. They all have different numbers but i get 1 bill for all 4. I have never had a problem using the tag sitting flat in my Nav compartment. It even worked in I 95 in Deleware.. I have not been down thru Richmond since they have started using the tags.

Actually, you can have multiple tags on one account. What Fly is referring to is how the billing works. They charge your credit card based on the number of tags on your account. If you have 1 tag, they initially bill your card for $35. When your balance gets to about $10, they charge your credit card another $35.
If you have two tags, they initially charge you $70, when your total account balance gets to $10, they charge you $70 again.
In reality however, in Fly's case, if he had 2 tags, he'd get charged $70 for the replenishment, but he'd only be charged half as often as he's getting charged the $35 replinishement for 1 tag. So two tags don't "cost" anymore.
So Fly, if right now you're getting charged that $35 every two weeks, if you had two tags, you'd get charged $70 every month or so. It's the same!!
