another good thing to do when storing a vehicle for a long period of time is to put a plastic sheet under the whole car. it helps stop moisture from getting to the car from the ground. a lot a classic car owners due this while storing there cherished rides.

Is it good enough to just disconnect the negative and leave the battery in the car or should you remove the battery and store inside? Forgive my ignorance.

i just disconnect the negative and leave the battery as-is; i usually store my rides in a storage unit and never had any issue with this. i guess you can also remove the battery if you'd like, either way, your question was a good one!
