Default Why is Liquid Aluminum only on Touring?

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I just got my hands on the '04 brochure. Any ideas why this color is only going to be offered on the Touring model?

I also think that they want to keep it somewhat exclusive hence the most expensive model.

Actually, Track is the most expensive model right? I know that my touring cost about 33K, an equivalent Track was about 35K.

Unhappy I know that sucks!

I saw that also. That sucks. I had my heart on a ’04 enthusiast in liquid aluminum to mod. I asked the general manager at my local Nissan dealer to call Nissan and beg them to offer that color in at least one other model. I think that color in a lower level would sell like crazy. The enthusiast would be a great model for this color. So I ask everyone on this website to go to your local Nissan deal and get them to call Nissan Corp and ask for the color to be made in a lower model. Maybe Nissan will listen. Just a thought. Since it is a late availability option anyway. Thanks.

I know car salesmen don't always have the facts straight, so take it for what it's worth, but a sales guy yesterday said it might cost up to $1000 extra for that color.

Default $1000 extra

I think that is correct. But I think the color will rock. I would pay more for that on the enthusiast but not the touring. Would that color not look awesome with Nismo Rays and large red Brembos with drilled rotors.

since the nissan paint is so crappy, why dont people buy whatever color and have the whole thing repainted in liquid metal or whatever color??? if you know people it wouldnt be much more than the 1000 dollar premium that nissan is charging for watercolor

It's funny that everyone is so hot on a color they have never seen. I guess the Marketing guys are pretty smart at Nissan

I think the reason it is only offered on the Touring model is so Nissan can make more money. I'm not sure, but I'm going to guess that Nissan makes the most money off of the Touring Model. Add a extra $1000 for paint and they are making even more money.

A first rate repaint job will go for at least three Gs.

I can see Nissan limiting it to the Touring & Track but not just Touring.

I was wondering, when a car gets repainted, do they just do the parts visible from the outside? Or, do the inside panels by the engine get painted also? I would think that would be difficult and would require essentially taking the entire car apart.

Just the outside. Big bucks for doing other trim work.

From looking at the nissanusa.com site and building my own Liquid Aluminum Touring Z, I noticed that there is no extra charge for the color.
