Default metallic sound @ 4,000rpm?

Does anyone else know what this is? I tried a couple different searches on the forum, but I couldn't come up with what I was talking about. I know for a fact I'm not the only one with this, (two other Z owners at meet one time were the ones who brought it to MY attention). For those of you who don't know what it is, or want to see if it happens to you...have the windows down/AC off, no music obviously too... But then accelerate PAST 4k rpm's, but listen very carefully right between 3800-4000 rpm's...it makes almost like a metallic ringing sound (just for a split second) Again, sorry if this was an old issue or if this is something all of the cars do..just wasn't sure.

thanks

Could be an engine knock...put octane booster in your tank...did you fill up on premium? Could be water in the gas also...get that octane booster asap and see if it helps.

It's normal. According to the people who replied to my inquiry about it a few months ago, its the throttle body.

Here is the short thread.

I get it at 5,000rpm when flooring the car. It sounds like it comes more from the passanger side, but I have not been able to locate it. It's pretty loud and can scare the passanger.

bobbyz,

That's probably a different noise then what Drew and I (and most other people) are hearing. Our sound is more like to wine glasses ringing together. Not scarey at all

My Z and my friend's get the exact same noise. It's normal as mentioned above. I sort of like it. Sounds interesting
