I went from an '93 MX6 to my Z, my MX6 was "quick"... quick for a slow car as the Z is on a whole different level. I test drove the Z when it was real cold out (0 deg), with good revs I put my foot to the floor in 3rd and it felt like the clutch was shot and slipping, then the cold tires hooked up and bam! Sold.

I took my Z to the Mosport DDT track which is quite tight a few weeks back to race autoX on the track. I was 100% happy with the power of the Z. One thing that was mentioned over and over in the above posts was the smooth acceleration and that is one big thing I noticed, the car just wants to pull through all RPMs, it is most angry above 3.5K of course though .

The only thing that disappoints me about the Z is it's inability to smoke the tires in first gear, in a straight line without dumping (and abusing!) your clutch when you feel like having a quicky with your car. Since I never abuse my clutch, that never happens . I guess I'm probably just bitter. I was out with a buddy who just purchased and broke in a GT500... somebody honked at him to hurry and take off from a light, he nailed the gas for probably no more than a second and there was smoke coming off the tires almost instantly

Deevel79,

In case you're still paying attention. I read a lot of this thread but not 100% all of it. What I got from it the most and to answer your question directly is.. I think youre missing that "feeling fast" doesnt make a car actually run fast. Truth is it's only when you push a car to its "limits" that you should feel "anything". In other words it's the weight of the G that youre feeling and making you "think" it's faster. In a real race car built for the track at 200mph you dont feel a thing. In fact it's more like a sunday drive than a race. Especially on the straights. Personally I did expect my Z to be faster. In a test drive you cant exactly push the car to it's extreme's. Since I got the car and have had a chance to see just what its limits are, I expected them to be higher. It is a fast good handling car, but to answer your question yes I did expect it to be faster.

Parker01,

Personally I can smoke the tires all I desire to in my Z but uhm smoke means the tires are slipping, personally Id rather have them grip the road when I take off from a stop. Id rather be first then smoke LOL wouldnt you?

Edit: You ever drove a go-kart and got off and went woah that was fun? ...and how fast were you going? maybe 20-25mph? LOL. See what I'm saying?

Like most people you probably confuse a desire to go fast with an actual desire to feel G-Forces
You don't have to go fast to feel gravity acting on your body
Also 10,000mph would probably feel very boring to you in space for instance
It's not always about speed...

I came from driving a S2000 and the Z was about what I expected. The Z is so much better than the S2K in so many ways, and I liked that car. Very linear power in the Z, its nice not havin to rev the **** out of it to get to 40mph.
