Default Anyone else get hissing noise?

I notice this only when it's real quiet outside, mostly at night. When I turn on the car or am sitting at a light, over my right shoulder, I hear a hissing (with a few short breaks) coming from the rear of the car...

I'm not quite sure what it is, or whether to be concerned or not, but it is quite annoying and doesn't sound like it should be happening. Anyone else get this or have a clue what it could be???

I think someone can back me up on this up... but I believe it's the fuel pump. It's normal... just doing it's job of delivering gas to your engine.

Well, I have a 91 Z and never had any noise like this. I know it's a totally different car, but it just seems like something that should not be happening. I guess I will check with the dealer when I go in for my first service in a week or so.

Open up your glovebox and listen, if it's louder from there it's your fuel pump.

I also hear this noise exactly as you describe it .
Does this mean a faulty pump?
Or is it something to do with the regulator?

well to see if its the fuel pump or not try this.
Turn the car on, but don't crank it (too the ACC position) so that the radio comes on and the Gauges lights up. You should hear the fuel pump towards the rear right. compare it to the sound you heard. If it's the same its the fuel pump. If not take it to the dealer to see whats wrong.
Oh, also make sure that you don't have a small snake caught in the rear right wheel well.

Fuel pump. I asked this question before too. It seems to get lighter to non-existent whenever the car is warm or something. Usually only happens (noticeably) in the morning, but not when I am going home.

I hear it as well every so often when I'm sitting in the driveway, if you get outta the car and go to the rear end (my passenger side rear I can seem to hear it the best.

Thanks a lot guys. I will try alphared's suggestion tonight when I get home from workand I will post my findings afterwards.

I hope it's nothing, because the guy that installed my Nismo wing really made a mess of the car (paintspray everywhere...all 4 rims, all over the body, on my brand new Katzkin leather, scratches and scuffs, etc) and I'm still coping with that.

I didn't get the chance to test it out last night. I was too busy wiring my Xenarc screen to the HU power source and doing some other preparatory work for the rest of my stereo install. I will try to get to it either tonight or tomorrow.

Default I hear it too

I hear that too but it seems to come from underneath the driver's side of my Z. If I have the car running and open the door and while holding the steering wheel, lean out so that my head is looking under the car (I can only image what it must look like) I can hear it right there. It's not a consistant hissing, but intermittant. I'm not too concerned about it since most people say it's the fuel pump. It does seem louder at some times than it does at other times though.
