General advice for a teen.

Advice for a 17 year old.
Hello I'm not new to the forum but I've never posted anything. I did however snoop around the forum reading stuff about the Z after months, I find myself wanting to buy a Z. I'm 17 and my budget will probably be about $20,000 for a car. I've found myself interested in the 350z because I love to drive and what's better than to have fun doing it. I've rode in a friend's 350z and found it to be very enjoyable. I like learning about the car and mods but modifications would be in a long shot. Is there any advice I can receive on purchasing an used 350z? Also, I don't want to get flamed due to a dislike in teens driving sports cars.

Get it certified pre-owned and under 50k miles. Traction control is also good to have in a daily driver, regardless of age/experience so I'll suggest not getting a base. What year were you looking at?
Other advice for a teen...F*ck 'em while it's legal, and stay away from drugs.

@Mr. I'm trying to find an `06 in Magnetic Black but it doesn't really matter since I don't get the money till December so there's lots of time to look around for one.
@knuckles I read most of your thread but I'm a little afraid of purchasing anything older than an `06 because well.. I guess newer is better. It would be great if I could find an `08 but I'd have to be dreaming.

Looked at Civic Si's for a while but never really liked the idea of it being a FWD car. I was infatuated with the G35 for a while now but it got old to me due to it being very common in my area.

lulz... at least you're honest.
Look, chances are, and you prob. know this if you've been lurking for a while, you're gonna get flamed, hard.
Just be honest, upfront, and don't ACT like a 17yr. old.
Thick skin and a sense of humor and you'll be fine.
Drive safely and have fun. Good luck!!

Hey I don't have advices on getting a used Z but like the others have said get something certified and under 50K mi. And yes all the extra VDC / TCS are nice to have since it aids you during critical situations. Now 17 years old getting a Z, I'd say go for it if you are up for it, I don't see why people flame teens for getting a Z from their parents, yes spoiled or well fortuned (what I call it) it doesn't really matter to you guys does it? It's not your money or has anything to do with them. Just enjoy the car because ultimately this is what this forum is about I think it's just welcoming new people and be helpful to each other, whether your 16 or 36. A Z is a Z and it's a fun car and we all love it that's why we get them.
Good luck kid.

While you may be provided money to purchase your car maintenance is the thing to worry about and I am not just talking about the car breaking down. Tires, Gas, Oil Changes, etc. Therefore, it is imperative to get it with the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty so all you have to do is pay the deductible.
good luck btw I just bought mine and I am 23 - almost got it at 17, too - so don't worry about the flaming.

I could care less if you are 17 or 57. What I dislike is posers without a dime hoping mommy and daddy will buy them a car. Dreams are good. Misleading forum members is dishonest. 9 out of 10 Thinking about buying a 350Z members are gone in 30 days never to be heard from again.
