"Added lightness" (More SCCA STU-class prep)

Removed my beloved JL 10W6 v2 and the slot-ported custom MDF enclosure I made for it. (~65lbs together) I also removed the two JL Slash v2 amps (500/1, 300/2) that were driving the entire sound system. (~25lbs)

I drive the car on long road trips to the different events, rather than tow it, so I didn't want to leave it with nothing.

I installed an old 4 channel MTX amp and a 6.5" Tang Bang sub in a ported cardboard-tube enclosure. (under 10lbs amp/sub/enclosure together)

The Tang Bang 6.5" is rather impressive too. It's a real sub that extends pretty low, and the output level is surprising. (whilst running it out of spec anyway) The poor thing is only rated at 50w continuous but I'm running it with a solid 120w. I adjusted the gains to avoid mechanical protests from the sub, (13mm Xmax!!) but I have no idea how it will deal with the heat over time. It "sounds" really happy ATM.

Regardless, my Z is ~80lbs lighter and I still enjoy the sound system.

Drove him for the first time since deploying to the 'Stan... Aside from my new battery being crap, started right up. Aside from fam and friends, seeing home and the cars has been the best.
