Interesting. Everytime I stare at the 6-potters on my Benz, I muse, "Hmmmm wonder if I can fit a set of those on my Z?" Those 8-pot later AMG/Brembo calipers are huge. In to see them fit.

Are those supposed to fit over stock sized Z34 rotors? The 6-pot AMGs use a 360mm rotor and the Akebono Z34s are 355. Trying to imagine those 8-pots on the smaller rotor.

The AMG 8-POT with the corresponding adapter uses the 370Z Sports (355mm) Rotors. It uses the full face, I know the AMG 6-POT uses 2 pads per caliper, the AMG 8-POT uses 4 pads per caliper, the 8 curves to fit the ~5mm smaller rotors I believe. I have some pictures if you're interested including with OEM Nismo wheels on, and hugging some Z1 2-Piece Rotors on a G35. DM for pictures.

EDIT: Time for me to go pry on some rotors ads in the marketplace...

Not sure why at first glance.. Almost looks like an action shot, as if you're taking a corner at the track and the hood flies open. Really cool pic.

Not sure which 6-piston AMG calipers you're referring to but my SL uses a 6-piston, 4-pad/caliper setup. When I was shopping for pads for it, I was like, "Wait, what? FOUR pads?? Dayam, that ain't gonna be cheap...." . But surprisingly, basic parts aren't THAT expensive for it, at least comparatively speaking. Good luck finding your parts!

Same guy sells a bracket for the front 18z 355mm 6-piston Brembos (Q7/Touareg/Cayenne) that fit the Z34 sport rotors. All I got.

Today I attempt to remove my Akebono adapter from Z1 won't move. The Allen bolt is in pretty good, won't turn. /sigh I know I used anti-seize.... I think the previous shop I went to for inspection may have used hex sockets with impacts as opposed to my allen key wrench L-shape. I talked to Seb, I might take a trip to his shop after I pick up some car parts... shell out money from other shop's mistakes.

EDIT: What size is the Z1 Adapter Allen bolt? M10? M12? M11? M10 Allen key is too small. Might have to do a scandalous return on a Allen Socket Kit 1/2” Drive $158 with all sizes, then return it for money back.... I don’t ever plan on using the kit again!

If my memory serves me right, I used my H12 allen head socket. Maybe a local auto parts store would let you borrow or rent one so you don't have to buy a set and then return it.

My today’s run. Also Hotchkis sway bar sets. What setting do you guys use on sway bar? I’m upgrading from OEM.

I think I went with hole 3 on the front and hole 1 on the rear, but you can always play around with it until you find the right balance of oversteer or understeer.

Nice haul.

Setting your sway bars depends on how/where you drive your car but a good thing to do is to START both front and rear on full soft (hole #1, nearest end of bar). Drive for a while, you'll already notice a difference since the bars at full soft are already stiff F&R than stock.

Then, when you know what you want, e.g., dial back understeer (increase oversteer or more turn-in response) stiffen up the rear bar one hole. And if that's not enough, go full stiff (but I doubt you'll need or want to do that, see below)

When you're at rear=full stiff, it's likely the the rear's going to want to come around. Increase front bar by one hole, this will neutral the car out some. If still too tail happy for you, back the rear bar off one hole.

You'll likely end up where I have mine currently: Front-hole 2 (2nd softest), Rear-hole 2 (middle). Slight bias to oversteer. (For years, I ran the front full soft but took some shock stiffness out n front so I increased roll stiffness just a tad from hole 1 to 2 and it still feels OK)

while we're talking about this.....

General rule of thumb:

Increase UNDERSTEER - Increase roll stiffness up front
Increase OVERSTEER - Increase roll stiffness in back

Seems counterintuitive, yes? But if you think about it in terms of tire behavior, the stiffer end of the car, tires will reach max slip angle and max adhesion first so can/will wash out first. (This also explains why the stock/OE car comes with F-R stagger tire sizes. An understeering car is a safer car in the hands of a less experienced driver. Lessens product liability.)

well not today, but this past weekend. Changed out both rear wheel hubs/bearings. 189,000 miles on the car....holy cow I can hear wind noise now at 75 mph....didn't realize how loud the right rear bearing was yelling at me.

Got lucky with the hubs coming out with just a couple of taps. Being a NJ car originally every bolt is nicely rusted :-(

BTW I found this product for dis-similar metals (used in marine applications) Like anti-seize but doesn't have copper so perfect between steel and aluminum.

Washed, detailed, drove over 300 miles in 24HRS. Phew. Then I wrapped the car in disposable car cover that I reuse to protect that 3-5 hrs weekly wash.

Picked up some Recaros Profis SPG. One from different seller in different vastly different areas. The torn one is imported from Japan, has JP tags and serial number. Left has German tag, from Germany. I saw two ways to tackle the torn seat.

A) Buy a new Recaro seat replacement cover
B) Go to a reupholstering shop that does bucket seats

your thoughts welcome!! Even more so if you have replacement parts... new cushion too! The torn version is from Aug. 96’, left is July 05’.

I’m thinking about getting a pair of Buddy Club Super Low Rails with slider, easy install, $200 each. Anyone used them? Doesn’t have to be FIA approved. Just wanting to build a street tuner car.

Additionally picked up some other miscellaneous items and a pair of Brembo 4-POT off of 2012+ Jeep Grand Cheeroke SRT8 for the rear, for the Z. AMG rear will not work. Adapters/SS lines still not here yet. DM for more info.

I will feel safer with Aerocatch latches now, I get consciously worried about my hood flying up like I hear from people or part-out posts. The Work Bell Rapidfix GTC Quick-Tilt is interesting. Z1 Brake Brace is also something I can’t

Finally found these beautiful pair of Powerhouse Amuse! Thank you Lord! HKS & Amuse are my top picks.

Although, I’m second-doubting the authenticity of it. It seems very solid and heavy, has WB patents stamps etc, I can’t close it, feel like it’s defective or needs lube? Bought it off 2nd hand off a Japanese gentleman who also had one on his AE86. Said he bought the Workbell GTC new 2 years ago and had it siting, then decided to sell it to me recently for a whooping 200 USD /c’mon Jesus, let me enjoy it!!

If you own/experienced Work Bell GTC, please contact me; let’s verify the authenticity. I don’t support or encourage the use of knock offs. (Although I have VIS Supperleggera on my mind)

Japanese plate mounting bracket. I had to drill some new holes (marked with a dot between two other holes). My plate is no longer off center.

Arrived today and got the attention of the cats. I’m very satisfied with Buddy Club rails, I recommend it to anyone. Full adjustable and the slider is pretty stiff, going to lube down with some white lithium grease.

The fitment is close with door shut, it’s on point! Both are in now, despite the torn recaro still going on haha. Going to look into takata harness, the OEM seats belt rubbing on the seat fabric bothers me. Let me know if anyone has the fabric protector.
I would like someone’s opinion or recommendation on how to care for the seats, what products/tips you do to maintain. Thanks!

Still waiting on the special order for the seat replacement cover. I believe it’s coming out of Recaros HQ whenever they get them in stock.

@mrspraco that image is great! Good to remember the old cartoons, looks mean indeed!

If you have bucket seat hardware locally, PM me.

Can I get some human specs? are u 30x30 guy or 32x38 guy? height also? Just curious how the rails working out for ya. I have Corbeau FX1 pros and i am using the bottom mount from corbeau, not very comfy and whenever i push in the clutch my leg is fully extended and parallel to the ground which to me feels uncomfortable. I am looking into some side mounts with sliders that can pivot me back a bit to allow me sit a tad bit more reclined.
