FX45 Engine in 350Z?
well youd have to go all custom at that point, cause its not likely thered be much room left for anything not that there are many performance parts made for the SUV anyway.
your weight balance would be all off, so handling would suffer.

You'd also need a new ECU entirely. Not the one in the Z or the one in the FX. A hybrid computer. Too much trouble when there is a FI kit waiting for much less moolah. I have dreamed of this too.

sorry, but WTF would you want a v8 in a z for? Zs have always had 6cyl's and it should stay that way. I can understand doing an RB26DETT swap but not V8. That's just retarded. May as well put an LS1 in there if you're going to do that
I actually know of someone who's putting an LS1 in a G35C. Can't say who, though, I was sworn to secrecy. 
It's not a bad idea, motor swaps are very effective when done right. Hell, I've done one myself. I just have a feeling that the 4.5 L V8 that's in the Infiniti would take a TON of work to get running right. It'd be a great project, but not something you could do with a daily driver.

I never really understood motor swaps.
Is'nt it true at this point if you tear out a cars engine, its no longer the same car anymore I mean..take out the Z's engine and put in a honda's (Say) it'd be a honda with a Z body shell?!
At what point does the car cease to become the same vehicle, when you mod/change it all to hell so much its not correct to call it by the same name anymore! I think the only purpose is to *Fool* some shmuck in a road race into thinking he got beat by a stock car when in fact its a frankenstein machine?!

you can't bore out our VQ35 engines, from what I understand they are aluminum block with steel sleeves. If you tried to bore, you would thin the sleeve. If you really wanted to do it, prolly have to bore the sleeve completely out and have a new sleeve designed.
I beleive the engine is already bored out from the 3liter version... not sure if that was ever proven or not. but if it was true, not likely that it can be done a whole lot more...
Ill stick to a turbo, Im fairly certain the Z engine with that kind of money in it would put out plenty of horsepower to be considered death on wheels.

I never really understood motor swaps.
As far as putting a V8 in a Z.....why? There are tons other more reliable and cheaper way to acheive the same level of performace without suffering handling.

Just because it's not what you would do doesn't make it stupid.
There are some good valid resons for some swaps. A small block V8 on an RX7 became a common swap to the point there was a comercial kit available. Why? Rebuilding the RX engine was too expensive, while small block Chevys are dime a dozen and parts are cheap.
But I think most swap start with a "what if". It is a technical challenge, for those who like to solve problems. And you do end up with a "unique" (most of the time), could be a "Frankenstein", but yours might be the only one!
Underpowered cars : A lot of 4 and 6 Mavericks used to get 302 V8s on them. They fit, and you get better power for an underpowered car. Many 4 and V6 Mustangs get 302s in them as well.
I saw pictures of a V8 on a Bettle.
About dificulties : If you get the ECU and wiring with the donor V8 engine, I don't see why it would be so hard. Next you have to figure weight and suspension issues, which is a common issue to ANY engine swap.
And I HAVE heard of Zs (old ones) with V8s (Chevy) on them...
This is more likely to come about when some FX45s die on accidents (roll overs, etc) and some used engines/tran/ECU donor cars become available. Add that to a dead engine Z (maybe blown dead by a supercharger?), and you might have the birth of the FX-350Z
