Default Just bought today an 07 Touring w/ 7,000 miles...cruise control question

Hey guys bought my first Z today. I have read the top 100 questions and didnt see anything about this one. When i put the car on cruise control, it feels jumpy like slows down a little and speeds up a little but my speed doesnt change, nor do my rpms or my oil pressure. Any ideas?

Keep it over 75mph and you will not notice the surge/decel. 70 or below in 6th gear is where mine has that issue.

Welcome.

If you set speed control to 110 MPH you will be fine.

Mine does the same thing and it has a MT. I consider it normal.

Mine does it as well. It's just more noticeable in my Z than in my wife's HHR, but hers does it (to a less noticeable degree) too.

Congrats on the new ride! You basically got yourself a brand-new 07, very nice.

As for the cruise control "jumpiness," it's normal. I have an 07 touring as well, and mine does it too (6-speed). All you're feeling is the car attempting to keep itself at the same speed. The jumpiness you're feeling is the engine throttling itself slightly to maintain speed. I know the effect is more pronounced in the Z than in most cars, but it's normal. Nothing to worry about.

Mine does'nt have this problem at all. I found out that my cruise sets at 92 max, and it is the "DEPLORABLE" automatic.

The Z 5AT has a lock-up torque converter, so the cruise works just the same on the 5AT as it does on the 6MT in the situation you describe.

I think the problem is more with the electric throttles. When the cruise control calls for an adjustment, the response is much quicker than with the old vacuum-diaphragm CC and cable-operated throttle.

I hope you don't intend to mess up your new car with a bunch of after-market stuff. It looks VERY nice just like it is. Spend the money on gas and going places instead.

My MT does that too but only at the lower speeds. BTW mine will not set over 90 MPH.
