Default Better gas mileage less power?

So basically the pipe connecting the muffler to the exhaust system has disconnected. This has of course increased the exhaust tone which is not bad but i think I lost some power I assume I have lost low-midrange torque and gained higher end power? Is that fair to say if i leave it dosconnected for now? I'm just loving the better gas mileage But i am no longer able to peel out

Why did you buy a fairly well powered sports car if you were more concerned about good gas mileage? Driving around with a disconnected exhaust cant you kind of get why you are getting the responses your getting especially on a car enthusiast site. If you wanted a de-tuned vq with good gas mileage you should of gotten an Altima

The only helpful thing I can think of to say is that you might get a ticket for noise violation with an unmuffled car, especially if you like "peeling out". So you might want to fix it.

for better gas mileage especially on long trips 70mph cruise.. go up one size in rear tire say 255-45-18. this will increase diameter of tire approx 3%...you will be actually driving faster than speedo....so for 70mph drive @68mph...should increase gas mileage from say 27.2 (my car) to 28mpg.
