You can't live on 17 grand a year around here. That's grocery money. If I had a Z when I was 17, I would have been car poor. My parents would have had to pay for my housing, college and the majority of my living expenses in a couple years. I did not have a Z when I was 17. I had an 89 Prelude that was totally paid off because it only cost a few grand.
If your parents are willing to pay for everything for you, go ahead and get a Z. Just don't expect anyone to think anything of you just because you have a car. It's about earning your stuff, not just having it.
Kids.

I came off as a spoiled brat, I get that, but in no bragging mentality, I was well off at 16. I was in the whole comp scene, writing and networking. No I didn't make 17K a year, but not less than that. My first job was a computer technician. I lost a lot of my social life skipping ahead in school at 14. When you say hard work, I worked hard. It was a plus that I lived with my parents and that they supported me, but hey I was 16 and I did what any smart kid would do at the time.. Milk it. Who wouldn't have? But through and through, mommy and daddy did not wipe my ***. I ate their food and lived in my room that I had since I was young. A job and a car were my only hobbies. I'm not expecting anyone to think anything highly of me, I'm just speaking for all those other 17 year olds as well that can work for their stuff (rare) since this is the 17yo forum. Anyhow, I am a fellow Z member, and not 17 anymore. So I'm down with the mojitos, but not so much the teen bashing. And one more thing, I wasn't arrogant enough to be speeding and that nonsense on the open road. I just started working on the Z again recently so I'm actually hoping to make new friends in this forum again.

they all get it , stop trying to prove somthing
they are just always on "flame on" mode
get use to it
hell
my dad gave me his z when i just turn 18 and yes daddy was paying the bills
but once maturity hit me in the face i take over all the bills for this car
and thats the least i can do since im stil living under my dads house
and right now the car hasnt been driven for atleast 3 years because i was out of the country
now im back all the old mods my dad put on are going to be taken off
and start fresh by me ! dont care how long it takes to reach my goal
but its worth it and i will know all that was done by me

im 17 right now and i drive a 2008 350.. Yes i dont pay for my car but the reason im driving this is the same reason the rest of us are driving it, putting aside who pays for the car we both share the same interest in this car. Ill be used to the bashing from some of you older guys who pay for your car but dont like being looked down at because im 17. This summer I will be working in a dealership as a technician as a summer mentorship and will have to pay for some of my car ..

1. Not searching
2. Throwing a temper tantrum when we tell you to search
3. Wasting our time with "I'm going to get a twin turbo and NAAWWWZZ" when you can't afford it anyway.
4. Getting tacky/cheap mods
5. Wrecking the car and raising the insurance for everyone else.
6. Acting like you're special because you have a Z handed to you.
There are others I can list but I'm out of beer.
