25 now, 4 different cars:

15 - 1988 Porsche 944S (purchased with inheritance and worked two jobs in HS to cover insurance and repairs, my parents helped only when absolutely necessary) - Wrecked in college being a complete idiot and was suspended from the school for a semester, long story short -- I learned my lesson about D&D.

21 - Public transportation (learned to appreciate the luxury of driving on an entirely new level)

22 - 1991 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Fullsize (took out a loan for 1500 to purchase this heap) - recently sold for 1300

23 - 2003 Audi A4 (graduated from college and got a job, needed a reliable vehicle)

25 - 2007 Nissan 350Z (the Audi turned out to be a lemon of sorts, got out while I could and purchased a car that replaces the void I've had since wrecking the 944S)

I can say that the 350Z (as with the 944S I had) is too much car for the average 15/16/17yr old. There are too many temptations and distractions when you're of that age, and when combined with a fast car it makes for a disaster waiting to happen. Granted, young people wreck all kinds of cars (insurance is expensive for a reason when a teenager), but chances of wrecking/totaling/being injured in a minivan vs a sports car are compounded due to one being more subject to speeding and driving fast in the sports car (it is actually capable to do so).

I definitely fall into the category of someone who was spoiled with the fact I had money to buy my first car and did not have to save up for it, but I learned to appreciate what I had through life experience and working my #$@ off in order to maintain the luxury of driving. You learn some humility when you're picking up trash at a movie theater for 5.15/hr.

If some of you younger posters have a 350Z, I say congrats; I doubt anybody on a forums is going to convince you to not drive like an idiot, the "invincible" mentality is still too fresh with younger drivers. Rest assured, if you don't learn it from your parents, peers, family, etc. life will teach you the lesson sooner or later to be responsible above all else when operating a vehicle.

Cheers!

i haven't answered the forum topic so here goes:

19 yrs old - 1991 Mazda RX-7 Rebuilt NA
22 yrs old - 2006 Nissan 350z ENT 6MT

i miss my FC though, but the 350z has the same form factor as the FC which makes me happy (coupe hatch).

really happy with the Z, i waited for more than a year!

[edit]
my statement about the Z being something not to be proud about was a bit harsh on my part, i retract this statement. i understand people worked hard for theirs, i will be working hard for it too for the next 5 years (less if i accelerate payment).

fun times

1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE
1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD
2006 Honda Civic EX

First one was from the parents and then the modding bug hit me had to get an import so started with DSM that were broken down and fixed them up to running condition. After joining the army I needed something more reliable and bought the Civic. Now its too much of an econobox and I need something..... what do you call it... more masculine to say the least. So hopefully when I get back I'll be trading in for a 350Z.

It is a common belief among ultra-masculine males that homosexuals are in some way inferior. Studies have been inconclusive as to exactly how, but we believe it is in some way related to buttsecks.

Gay people, along with teenagers, white guys who think they're black and emo kids, may find that they are heavily discriminated against on this site. My personal recommendation is that they simple walk away.

I grew up in SF and a little known fact is this: Yes, there are a lot of gays in SF BUT very, very few were born there....most are from the midwest. SF does not make people gay. They come here that way.
