Sure would like to know where they're getting an '04 with knee pads. Every dealer parts department that I've searched has no idea about these in an 04. My '04 Touring Coupe certainly does not have them. That makes me question the suspension upgrade statement as well.

sm16,

Thanks for posting. I want to know when this "changes" will take place (or have they already?).

Thanks,

I'm not sure when they started to build the cars with the changes stated in the article. Apparently not right way since some people how have bought their 2004's already do not see these changes. I would assume that the cars being built right now, and 2 months prior include these changes. But that's just my assumption.
I'm also wondering if the changes to the suspension fix the tire feathering issue that the 2003's had.

I am getting mine in December. I just got my VIN # last week, so I am assuming that my car was built this month.

I'll let you guys know if the changes mentioned are in my car, like the supposed "soft-touch plastic" center console, euro-spec suspension, and knee pads.

I thought that I just never noticed the knee pads so I went out to my Z ..... nada! lol I was even looking for the cushy elbow pad on the center console. Must have fallen off between the seats and the console lol oh well

Seems that the first batch of 2004s are in reality 2003s...the knee pads and redone center dash lid were reported to be changed months ago on the "new" 2004s...Looks like Nissan delayed the changes for some reason...
However this new suspension change is going to be very welcome for many and I'm dying to read some posts on test drives of the euro setup...You'll have to call it a 2004.5 350Z Euro-spec however when you decribe it...
Or how about 04.5 350Z-ES or 350Z Type E???...If you like these I want $0.25 every time some one uses them!!!

The new suspension isnt nesecasrily "softer". Its sprigs are firmer in fact. It has re-designed shocks that are (presumably) softer in the impact and about the same as the 2003s in the rebound (so less "bounce"). It also has new bump stops. I beleive the roll bars are the same.

So does anyone know if these 2004.5's are hitting the lots already? I'm hoping to get mine any day now, so I'm just curious what to expect. This thread seems to indicate that they changes are showing up, but I was curious if anyone with a coupe got them.

Here in Holland the first cars (demonstration vehicles for the dealerships) came in about two weeks ago.

These cars have the kneepads and also the softer center console... but at the rearview mirror is a connector with no purpose, is this for the "homelink" mirror that i see in all the pictures? Are these mirrors in the '03 cars and the '04 cars?

Best regards,
Peter

My car was built in september (got it 2 weeks ago), and it has all those changes except the knee pads. The cargo (nav) door is Very sturdy, and yes it all has that soft touch. My suspension feels very firm, but I haven't ridden in an '03.

Mine was built in September and has the soft touch stuff on the gauges and hopefully the new suspension. Per Nissan all 04 were to be built with the Euro suspension. Hope they are telling the truth. No knee pads though.

Remember the canadian quarter has the elk on it...not the beaver!!! ;-)

I thought I read that the November production run would be the first with the new suspension setups...I might have read it wrong though?...Wonder when the Nissan website will report these new changes?

My '04 October production track model was just delivered yesterday and I picked it up today. It has the infamous knee pads for the driver and the passenger. The center console also has a layer of padding, but it is very thin and almost useless.

Couple of other items that I thought were different than the '04 I checked out back in August. The round interior door handles are now clearly metal, but I remembered them to be cheap plastic in earlier versions. The passenger side door grab trim maybe real aluminum and not the normal cheap Nissan plastic.

Lastly, the hood sensor is still missing. Still trying to figure that one out.
