Need some advice on how much my car is worth
Hello all.
I'm looking to sell my 350z here in the next few weeks as my wife and I are expecting our first child. The deal was I could dive the car until she entered her final trimester and at that point I'd have to find something more "practical" and "safe"
.
Well, this is coming up here pretty soon so I thought I'd get started with it. At first I was going to just ignore trying to sell it myself and forgo the hassle that often comes with that experience and trade it in. I've yet to have a dealer offer over $13,000 for my car, which is just total bs.
I worked at a dealership for a while and I know how the system works so I'm not entirely sure why I thought it would be worth it but oh well.
Anyway, I'm having a hard time finding one of similar year/trim/mileage to base my price off and I'm never quite sure how accurate KBB is. I was recommended this site by a good buddy of mine. He said that y'all might have some insight on what a good, fair price for my car would be.
Specs:
2008 350z Base w/ zero options.
17,000 miles
Near perfect condition, there is no damage anywhere but the inside drivers door. There are a few nicks and scratches there, but nothing significant.
Manual
I did the oil changes myself and have a paper trail for anything bought for the car (including a receipt for every gas fill up) and all scheduled services.
The title isn't quite clear as of now.
It's sitting on brand new tires good for and warranted for 75,000 miles.
The only thing modded is the radio which I swapped out for a Kenmore unit I found a good deal on. The two front speakers are replaces as is the actual radio. I still have the stock radio and speakers.
It also still has 14 months of factory warranty left on it.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

The bottom line is based on demand. If you're lucky enough to find somebody that really want it, they'll pay top dollar, otherwise everybody will low ball you. As mentioned above, check KBB, Edmunds, Autotrader for a ballpark estimate.
BTW if dealers are offering only 13, then you can figure a private party might pay 15-17.

I just paid 18k even for a 2007 base coupe with 26k miles on it. and that was from a dealer. 18.5k was the private party "good" price. I guess it depends on who is looking at it. People always seem to want more than what their car is worth on kbb. I just went to kbb, looked up the car, and offered the dealer $500 under the kbb private party value. they originally listed the car for 19,998. since it was certified used, it has a 6 year 84,000 mile warrant and emergency roadside assistance.

Advantages of your car:
Low miles
99 percent stock
Disadvantages:
THe Z is a Base. Shoppers know the Base is the least expense Z.
Lien on title. As a buyer, I assume you cannot afford to payoff the loan. I will use this as a negotiating advantage.
Good luck.

if u can PM me your VIN and mileage - i can run a NADA, KBB, and Blackbook on ur car. i'm a used car buyer for my brother's dealership. so i can give u break down on all values, wholesale, trade-in, auction value as well
We're getting a Juke this summer. Don't know what i'm buying yet.
Just got an 07 Enthusiast w/ 36k miles for 16500 perfect condition, one owner, clean title (car fully inspected prior to purchase by my mechanic). Private seller. Blue book value was 19500. Hope this helps. GL.
KBB shows this:
Private Party sale
Excellent
$22,395
Good
$21,245
Fair
$19,395
Trade in Value
Excellent
$20,750
Good
$19,650
Fair
$17,700
But in all honesty I would deduct around $3000 off of each of those due to current market conditions.
Good Luck.

Congrats on the baby...
I would first look at your breakeven point. This would include interest and payoff. Its hard to get good coin for a basic model. Weigh the pros and cons of taking less vs. past interest (you save) and future interest (you save through a better rate and terms) to be paid on your next car.
I think i just confused myself. I hope you get the point though.
Theres a couple website out there that can help you figure out the breakeven point on your current car/rate/terms vs future car/rate/terms.
