So ... my grandmother won a total of about $35,000 in a casino the other day and decided to share some with me and told me to use it on my car since she knows how passionate I am about cars in general. Now I've been debating what to spend it on I've been considering a new exhaust (have a Borla now) new rims (VarrStoen) or a tune.

I've really been considering either the rims so my car will have a little more of a unique look to it. But on the other hand all I ever read about is how useful a tune is whether stock or intensely modded, it's worth the money. Right now I have test pipes, and Borla exhaust, would a tune be worth it in your opinion?

Just for the record I'm asking because I don't get the oppurtunity too much to do an expensive mod for my car since I'm paying for school, and bills right now and only work part time. I also should state that I plan very carefully, and paying for the car is no problem (None of that, your too young for the car bladda bladda). I just put most of my money in savings so I don't have to take out any student loans.

Sorry for rambles lemme hear your opinions.

Thanks in advance!!

I'd say work on increasing performance, leave it looking somewhat stock so you don't draw attention to the cops as much. that's just what I'd do anyways. performance over looks is the way to go! so how much are you gonna have to work with?

Right now I have about $1100 to play around with. If I got rims and tires I'd say about $1800 but if I don't get new wheels I need new rear tires.

Would a tune be worth it now, after the first tune it's only like $150 to go back and have everything adjusted again.

Here are most of the mods that people do:

At your budget you might just be better off trying to find a used set of wheels in the marketplace.

Well the VarrStoen are $1000 shipped and I love there design / look. Volks are just out of budget for me. I know the common mods I'm kinda of leaning torwards a tune if it's worth it now.

cool G-ma! get the varrstoens. your grandma wont notice engine mods. she probably wouldnt want you to make it less safe with her money any way. even old people can appreciate good lookin wheels.
btw dont mod the engine with bolt ons. not much gain in hp, and can be problematic. cai is good for looks, thats about it. if you want more power save like 5k and go from there.

its a trick/test - your GM really wants you to do the responsible thing and put it towards school.

if you dont have the car lowered as yet then I'd say a set of coils should be what to get. i'd suggest poweredbymax.
goodluck

Invest in suspension components OTHER than coil overs. Ajustable upper control arms, rear camber arms, toe bolts, maybe some bushings if you need them. Get the suspension ready ahead of time for coilovers, wheels and a drop. Most people get coilovers first and don't think of the other things needed when you drop a car then ***** when their tires are wearing uneven and/or their bushings go out.

That or buy some stickers and fuzzy dice and put the rest in an emergency maintenance fund.

1. The bank owns the car.
2. You are a student with little to no money.
3. You are young and have plenty of time for toys later.

Do the smart thing and take all the cash and put it towards the car note... today. Thank your grandma for her generous donation to help you get your car paid off. Every month the bank is taking free money (interest) from you. The sooner you pay it off the more money you are saving.

Any mod you do to the car lowers its value and only yields a negative return. Be smart... she may even be testing you to see how you handle your money and such...
