Insurance rates? Seems low...
I have USAA insurance have been with them @ 14 years now. Called to get a quote on an 04 Coupe, with a $500 deductable and the same levels of coverage I have now (reasonably high), he quoted me $490/6 months. That seems absurdly low to me, but he re-read everything back to me and we went over it twice. Should note I have no accidents or tickets in those 14 years. I mean I thought I heard some horror stories from people on insurance?

Not from USAA, they are probably one of the best insurance companies out there if you can become a member
Its nice getting 300-400 dollar checks back from them yearly. Pays for a large part of my car insurance so its like its free

You have to have a fair buildup in the account, I think mines somewhere in the 5k range now. You get a fixed percent out of that on a yearly or so basis for me. I think I got about 390 from them this year.
If I ever get my damn Z (pending NOT getting screwed on jobs anymore) my insurance will be about 690 or so. Which is funny because my wife's insurance is about 800+ for her Mini.

I dont know what sort of savings account I have with them, all I know is every Xmas I get a check for under $100 or so, this year it was $55 (paid around $600 insurance for the year). So I guess USAA is the best deal out there, this is great, I thought for sure I was looking at some sort of $200/month bill for the coverage that makes my decision a lot easier.

A few facts about me: I have 3 cars, my house, and a personal umbrella policy with them. No accidents/tickets in over 10 years and obviously I’m over 30. My Z has a “pleasure” classification (driven less than 7,500 miles a year & not driven to work) and my deductible is $250. So a relativity low premium is possible.
I believe the “horror stories” you hear regarding the Z are from “kids” , people with bad records, and depends on where you live

I've got the Z and my other car on my policy, I get a 2nd car discount and pay about 2000 for both cars combined. So thats around 1000 per year per car. So about 500 per 6 months is
what I pay per car.
With a clean record and lengthy driving experience you get good rates.
I feel sorry for all those early 20 something guys. They get
banged with crazy rates!

NJ insurance
well i pay about 2285 for the year, no points and i think the insurance made a mistake and put down that im 56 years old (real age 27). my z has the extra airbags, garaged, and i have a company car. 2004 z with 2,110 miles. every time i make a payment it hurts, but not as bad as when i was 17 with a 1985maxima and 6 points liability was in the low 4,000 range and i really needed insurance (only lasted for a few month till i "sold the car to my mother" and got much much lower insurance).

My insurance just stepped down to $1080 a year as a 22 year old driving 6 years for the Z. My last car, Audi S4 was $2380 or so when i was 21 (only step 10) for the same coverage. I couldnt believe my ears/eyes to see i was saving over 50% on a 2 seat, newer car.
back to Nissan it is

Hmm, looks like I'm getting screwed by Progressive at $794/6 months. 26 years old, no tickets or accidents in past 5 years, 730 beacon, live in Miami. Maybe it's the Miami part? All I know is Geico quoted me $1698/6 months with all my discounts.
Maybe I should cancel Progressive.

Progressive will charge you for leaving thier company. That happened to me. They told me that the discount dossent apply if i leave within the year. So they chared me.

NEW JERSEY
All I have to say is New Jersey. The worst state for insurance.
My insurance right now is $5,000/year with full coverage. Maybe they are getting me back for when they had to pay for my first Z which was totalled. Either way, I only have one ticket on my record from 17 months ago for careless driving up at Penn State. I had low tire pressure in one of my rear tires and my 300zx chirpped going around a turn. Two cops decided to pull me over on their bicycles and issue me a ticket for burning out. Not to bash PSU, I am an alumni, but I really hate the cops up there and I hope they all get what is coming to them.
