I've never tracked a topless Z but somehow I agree with you there.

OK how about a my350Z coupe vs roadster showdown at the track eh?

I guess not as many people have seen that video. Regardless, let's not be childish and call other people names or resort to personal attacks, shall we?

While we're on the topic of "i can install more than you", serious question, how do you guys install your own coilovers? Am I an odd ball for not having a spring compressor or is there some other way to do it?

Well my thread has become quite popular haha now lets not argue or fight about things! I just want peoples opinion and how they feel about the differences!

But isn't the structure of the convertible a lot different from the coupe? or is that not true?
But i have test drove a convertible before and it seemed kinda shaking but I don't know if that was just me or the car or what.

Also ya'll are funny! lol but let's not get to serious and all that, let's keep it friendly! :-)

No need for a spring compressor as this is only used to remove and install springs on the shock or coilover itself. Coilovers already have springs on them.

What you'll need is a lot of patience and access to a variety of drive socket sizes, jack stands, breaker bar, and plenty of strength.

Edit: Maybe not so much for coilovers. But I did my brake upgrade at the same time... dear God. Some of those bolts might as well have been welded on.

Believe it or not, it's pretty friendly in here. The sarcasm just runs very strong in my blood - Just car guys pulling each others' chains. Me and Nismo over there will probably share a beer at the next meet. hahaha

Having recently acquired my roadster...I love it...and I actually prefer the look of the roadster over the coupe...but that is my preference and I don't plan on tracking...(never know)...so a body kit and a mod or two are in it's future but nothing too serious...the only problem I have had so far is trying to get my replacement top I have ordered...vandals suck...

Any convertible owner will concede the Z looks pretty lame with the top up. But that's only because it wasn't designed to be a convertible like the S2000 or whatever. With the top down, though, it's dead sexy.

Not sure if someone would let me weld in the cage from my old roadster. Not too hard to weld in just the roll bar with harness and then cut it out afterwards. But no one is going to let a roadster run at track speeds without a roll bar & having been saved by the roll cage once, I wouldn't drive without it even if they allowed it.

Another selling point -
The trunk of the roadster is also great to store bodies, drugs, etc. since cops can't see into the compartment through a window like the coupe/hatchback.
dont forget the hatch where the roof is stored. perfect for that kind of stuff

Hmm my coilovers came with the springs apart from the shock. A shop had to put the springs on.
