Default Should this concern me?

I mentioned this in my last thread but wanted to bring it up again…

Printed in tiny letters on my sticker was this notice: ‘Nissan replaced the transmission in this vehicle with a new Nissan transmission prior to delivery to the dealership.’ Should I be concerned about this? It seems to run fine...except for my post about the ‘pulsation’ I think I hear in 1st gear.

Thanks,

Thanks,

ugh...so they know there's something very wrong with the trannies on Z's but are not recalling the ones that have already been sold. that's fantastic.

sorry, no idea about the pulsation.

Thanks, Zeroday…that’s the good thing about warranties, right? Do you own a 6sp? If so, what do you feel/hear during normal acceleration in 1st gear…

Thanks

Raider, the fact is if there is a problem, you're obviously covered under the factory warranty, but it wouldn't instill a whole ton of confidence, if it were me. If I were you, I would use that as a bargaining chip....haggle with them, and say this isn't right, etc etc... maybe they'll throw you something for free.

ZRaider what year and model do you have? Is this a left over 2003 you just got? I got my 2004 back end of November. I have to check my sticker for this... kind of disturbing if you ask me. Did the salesperson inform you of this or did you just notice it yourself?

Tell them you would like an extended warrenty included with your car since your confidence has been blown by this.

It is a 2004. I purchased it the day it came in…the sticker wasn’t on the car yet. They were taking off all of the transit packaging when I got there. I noticed the disclaimer after I bought the car. I went back the next day to ask them about it and they said they were unaware of it. Of course, they told me not to worry about and that I should feel better knowing Nissan caught whatever was wrong with the first transmission. I thing I going to call Nissan and ask them about providing me statistics on how many Zs had this done…if a very few, I’ll ask for an extended warranty.

Was this on the window sticker or the one on the door sill?

That is a good thing! The tranny probably had a serial # on it that Nissan thought it was bad, so they gave you a new updated/better tranny than the old style. Nissan could have left your old tranny in and waited till you brought it in b/c you thought it wasnt "working" properly.

Kinda like the bose amp fix on the 03's. We had it replaced with the new amp b/c it sounded horrible.

That's good way to look at it.

Teh215, the disclaimer was on the window sticker.

I submitted a post yesterday with the subject of 1st gear pulsation. If you guys drive 6sps..would you mind describing to me what you feel/hear during normal acceleration out of 1st gear. When I start in 1st gear under normal load I hear a murmur (low rumble)…doesn’t seem to be from the engine because the severity depends on clutch timing with acceleration. If I give the car just enough gas to avid a stall then accelerate after the clutch is out I don’t feel or hear the pulsation. Ideas???

Could the pulsation and murmur noise be the VDC system testing itself (this is in the manual). It says you will hear a noise coming from the car at low speed when you first start. This supposedly happens everytime you start the car.
