Default Your spouse and the Z

Hi
A majority of Z owners are guys. Guys in a relationship with a woman. And then there is your Z. The love of your life. She gets all your time and attention : you cringe over speed umps, you baby her, your weekends on tracks and mods.
And then comes the inevitable question : "do you love the car more than me?" and you stutter. It's all down- hill from there.
Share your experience of spousal jealousy here. Any funny stories of 'it's either me or the car'.

It's an every day battle for me. In fact, we just had a fight last night over Samantha. It's moved towards the "I hate your car" talk. That hurt pretty bad. Usually my parts purchasing and car talk has to be done on a hush hush to avoid g/f hell fire and wrath of furry.

Maybe because we've been married a while, just spent our 25th in Key West. BTW, saw only one 350 there and it was sweet, especially when every other car is a red rented mustang (seriously). The Z was a sight for sore eyes. Anyway, sorry for digressing, I get a lot of "it's not practical" especially when we're forced to take her SUV for capacity reasons (three daughters). I have a '91 2+2 as well and I usually fire back that we can take the old Z if you wish... that usually ends it. I wind up driving anyway. It doesn't go away either. I got the "impractical" quote when I got the first Z too.

Interesting...
Actually,I'vebeen addicted to cars since I was 14yrs old.
Which was a long time ago and, many cars ago.
As for "our" Z,my wife drives it.I work on it,mod it.
Yep,there are many times when a conversation takes place
that starts with her saying,"I thought you said you were finished"?
Real Z guys are never finished with their cars.

I have been pretty lucky so far, the GF actually encouraged me to get the 350. I've ended calling my car the "Mistress" as i spend a lot of time with her when the GF is away on business.

It's funny when I get to send her dirty txt messages while she is with her friends. "I'm going home to pick up the mistress. You wanna have a threesome?"

Yeah, I’d dump all you guys too. Only difference is, I’ll take the Z with me when I go!

^ Far be it from me from sounding $exist. More power to you!

My wife "hates the Z", but since we are temporarily a 1-car DINK family, she wants to drive the 6MT on weekends, and that invariably turns in to an un-wanted verbal slug-fest.
She swears she will never drive a manual again. The time I spend washing, buffing the leather is met with snide remarks. I can take it, because I don't see the car as an "either or" in my relationship.
As with a lot of things in marriage this too shall blow over!

My wife totally digs the Z. She says it makes her feel like a teenager when we ride around in it.

My wife has given up trying to separate me from cars. We treat my modding like the military used to treat gays... don't ask, don't tell.

She asked me one time seriously how much money I had wrapped up in the Z. I just stone faced and asked her if she was trying to ruin a solid marriage.

When I want to hear my wife's opinion on my Z, I'll walk into the kitchen and give it to her. Not sure why it should matter, though?

As long as I'm providing for my family responsibly, it's not her place to say ish about what I chose to drive. And neither is it my place to say ish about what she does as long as she isn't shirking her responsibilities either. Now if either of us was throwing good money after bad and putting our family in a financial bind, that's different.
