Default Question

Hey im newer buyer to the Z family, i had to rebuild mine in my post.

My i have the BASIC 350z, like no cruise control. now im stumped by something.

I understamd that most 350z have a traction control.

But mine doesn't have an on/off button.

Does this mean, that .

A- it's always on?
B- it's always off?
C- gotta find the Fuse to take it off?

For some reason when i was testing her on the track. to get used to the car see how it handle's... it seems that when i went to go for a "drift" it drifted, but the car wanted its way... if that sound's correct. maybe its just me not being used to the way the ca handles atm.

Comming from being r32-r33 owner, and other car's.
not to sure. help me out guys

If you have a base model, then you probably don't have it. What year?

I have a base model as well with no traction control. So in other words, it's always off haha.

No traction control so don't even worry about it. If it did have it the button would be on the left on the dash.

Not only that, but since it's a base model, you probably have an open differential, instead of a limited slip differential. Get an LSD if you want to drift with any sense of control and smoothness.

Higher trims of the 350z come with viscous LSDs, but ideally you should get a mechanical LSD.

You have got to be kidding me. Learn to drive and you won't need traction control.

Put your key in, turn to acc and have a look at which lights show up on the dash.

Traction control is not on your particular model so you won't have to worry about it. And when you say when you went to "drift" but it drifted and had it's own way, it's your car probably under steered since our cars are step up to under steer rather than over steer. In other words, your Z is a little tricky to drift.

Mechanical LSDs usually run from $800-1200 depending on condition, plus labor costs in getting it into your car's rear pumpkin. If you want a price-conscious upgrade, you could swap in the whole pumpkin from a 2007+ G35/G37 or 370z. You'll get an okay VLSD with slightly lower gearing, to better break loose your tires, and it should be less than $300 depending on where you shop.

This thread delivers on the above swap: https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...z-3-538-a.html

It's true that the 350z comes slightly prone to understeering from the factory, but nothing that stiffer rear sway bars can't fix. Get the LSD first though.
