Drove my first 350 today
I have a local dealership that has a 03 touring model and since I'm in the market for a Z I figured I should check it out.
Well first off the car had CAI, custom exhaust, cross drilled rotors and it was lowered. Right away I was like no, no, no and no (I prefer stock) LOL! Carfax was clean first owner babied it only putting 34k miles on it in the 6 years they owned it and did regular maintenance. 2nd owner I assume a kid, did no maintenance (at least to show up on CF) and took a wild guess this person did the mods but who really knows.
Anyways I went ahead and drove it for 30mins and I don't know if all 350's drive like this but it was rough all the way around. Clutch engaged very late and seem to stick. Car would shake really bad when I braked lightly at 80mph. It just didn't pull that hard. Window rattled and would pop half way when going down or up.
It just didn't drive up to my expectations of a sports car that gets rave reviews.
Honestly the thing drove almost like my stock 93 NA Z32. I expected this to drive better being 10 years newer.
I need to find a stock 350z around my home to see if it was the car or all 350's drive like that. Maybe I'm spoiled because my last sports car was a 07 speed3 and that thing was f'n amazing to drive.
I'm in no way bashing the 350. I want one really bad just trying to figure if I drove garbage today or the norm.

I hear nothing but good things about the HR models but they are a bit out of my price range.
Test drive a 07 08 model comes with a improved engine called VQ35HR you will love it and it will not let you down trust me =D i own a 08 with only 35k miles its solid i hit tripe digits and feels like im going 60mph...you also get a more hp and clutch is baby smooth

Too bad your first impression was a poorly-modded, poorly-maintained Z. True, the clutch pedal on all 350Z's is a bit "different", but that's an easy fix with the adjustment kit from RJM Performance (~$150). Be patient, keep looking, and you'll find a nice one. if you can stretch your $, and HR is well worth the difference.

i'm no troll and you must be on crack if you don't think the speed3 can pull!
the 03 I drove today based off motortrend.com top speed 155 0-60 5.9
speed3 exactly the same.
Yes I know its hard to swallow that a FWD wagon is just as fast as an early model 350z but deal with it.
Owning the speed3 for 4 years I can tell you when the boost kicks in around 3500rpm it f'n pulls.

Your name suits you! You do know were talking about a speed3???? not a reg. 3
Speed3 has 268hp. Most cars can go faster but a lot get rev limits put on them Speed3 rev limiter kicks in at 155.
Your right i'm done because you obviously haven't a clue about anything else other than 350z's

go to a dealer, find a well cared for 07-08 example, and report your experience then.
That car sounds like it was loved at one time and then thrown down a staircase by the next owner.

yeah i have a 08 z and my does not drive no where near that or sounds no where near that either. only thing is with the z being so low to the ground you will feel bumps on the road which to me is fine to me. but on a flat road doing 65 mph it's like the more gas you give it even at 120 it don't shake or anything just smooth driving.

The clutch is a bit different in these cars, overall it sounds like you just drove one that wasn't maintained. The first one I drove was horrible as well. Just keep looking, you'll find one.
As for the comment saying to only get an HR. I have a DE and couldn't be happier.
