That's a fair point. Having never driven one, I cannot discredit the HR.

However, I can still say that I enjoy my DE

Dont let this experience discourage you from these awesome cars. I just bought my 04 350z a month ago. and yes it had two owners before me and had aftermarket done to it but all in all the car is awesome fun and the sound is amazing. Plus with the upgrades it came with I was pushing more than a stock 350z with the new engines and duel intakes. You just gotta find a winner that needs a lil work, or with luck none.

I have a DE, and driven an HR before and is a definite upgrade, OP if you cant afford an HR look for an 05-06 model, they are a lil bit cheaper and they have a better suspension which should help keep the car planted when going at high speeds

Actually it was boosted, Im still running with the upgraded intake manifold. but before they sold it to the dealer i bought it from they took it off.

It has a Borla Full Header back Exhaust System, Jim Wolf Intake, APS High Energy Fuel System, APS Fuel Regulator, APS Engine Bay Strut Bar.

my number are 272HP and 241Trq if you go by a 15% power loss to the rear wheels that makes my crank power 313HP and 277Trq, thats faster than a stock newer 2006 350z that get the extra 13 horsepower. The best thing yet was I got it for $13,000 and a 2 year warranty.

I traded a buddy his HR 350z for my RevUp car for a month. My RevUp DE car with minor weight reduction and 4.3 rear gear was more fun to drive than his stock HR car with full interior/sound system.
But thats not saying much, as a **** with fake ***** is going to be more fun than a **** without them.

Stock for stock it goes HR > RevUp > DE, progression doesn't go backwards.

holy wow, I had to reverse google image search that to make sure you werent trollin me.

good gravy! How does a company go from being partnered up with one of the most prestigious car makers ever to making cars that look like they belong on the end of a fishing line with the rest of the catfish?

Honestly the thing drove almost like my stock 93 NA Z32. I expected this to drive better being 10 years newer.
They are all like that. We just like it that way.

its a pretty bold move, its growing on me. But hey our cars, especially the 370 cant say much, the 370 looks almost identical to a Catfish/ Stingray. even has fangs that look like a catfish's whiskers

its actually 17% powertrain loss to the wheels, 22% for auto trans, either way it goes your not getting anywhere near a stock HR, their power delivery band is way better, they have less restrictive intakes and exhaust and it has two throttle bodies, etc, etc. I have seen stock HRs get close to 300whp with just bolt-ons, a DE wont do that your numbers are pretty solid for just bolt-ons but dont expect much more, we dont go off crank power here because thats not whats going to the wheels

Nothing wrong with a DE, I have one and I have driven the HR and yes the HR is an upgrade to the previous years. If money was no object, I would buy a 458 Italia and call it a day!

I like the MS3, fast little car. I would own one for a DD if I didn't have a compact DD.

when posting on this forum just know they wont baby you and will attack in a heart beat lol...Not because we are *******s (maybe just a little bit) but mainly because we are passionate of the Z and hate when people buy a great car not knowing what they are getting and change functional parts for crappy ebay/rice stuff...like i told you get a HR but if its not in your price range then look for next best thing REV UP (06) and if still no luck DE are just as fun and i promise you they wont be like the first one you test drove...Probably was owned by the type of persons i mention previously...keep looking im sure you will find a great one, do lots of research before modding...Unlike the rest i like MS3 and they sound great with the correct set up but i would never own one

So you're saying my crank numbers are 332HP 294 Trq?

I like the look of the Speed3 but hey i'm sure some people think the 350z look like garbage.

I personally think the 350z looks bad a$$ which is why I want one. Like I mentioned I'll try out another 350z this weekend and see how it drives.

Nismo - if you go by your stance on HR or nothing, then this forum should shut down and everyone should junk their DE or Rev up models since I'm 99% for sure the 03-06 model dominate these boards

Also I don't see how Im "no where near" close to a HR, where off the line stock my DE has more Trq than the second generation DE and HR block. (Second generation DE VQ35DE RevUp V6 makes 300 bhp 260 lbft with HR blocks only making 306Hp 268Trq my cars stock VQ35DE V6 is 287bhp 274 lbft. That means off the bat my cars engine has 6-14 lbft. differences, depending on the blocks respectively. Now mine is 332Hp 294Trq.) I'm comparing crank cause that's usually what car manufactures compared by. So then yes my modded 350z's VQ35DE V6 is more powerful than a bone stock VQ35HR, just but glancing at the numbers it doesn't take much thought.

Any valid comparison must be apples to apples.....the OP would need to find an equally abused, neglected, ragged-out Mazda for the comparison to be valid against the poor example he found for sale.

Just came from the Mazdaspeed world and if you mean stock for stock, kinda. It's still a close race. Once you get bolt-ons and a solid tune on an MS3, it will lay sweet rape to a bolt-on Z. A guy in Idaho ran 12.5 @ 109 with just bolt-ons and radials.
