Hydro locked motor question
Just purchased a 350z that is hydro locked got a very good deal and figured I would with rebuild or do a v8 swap not sure yet. Haven't had a chance to take it apart the previous owner took out the spark plugs and stuff and said the oil was mixed with water. No clanking sound from what he told me the oil is a Carmel color. He went through a puddle slowly but had a cold air intake which is how the water came in. My question is if the oil and waters drained what are the chances that with new spark plugs and oil the engine would run? If nothing was bent obviously. Never dealt wi a hydro locked motor so any advice ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect the engine blew
Then the water mixed with the oil.
Changing the oil, then the plugs & turning the key, sounds like fun. You never know

I hydro locked my '84 300ZX Turbo many years ago when I was in the Navy, in Hawaii. I drove it through a flooded section of the base like an idiot. I took out the spark plugs and turned it over, shooting water about 15 feet into the air. (I also got the living crap shocked out of me while unhooking the battery and standing in a foot of water.)
I just changed the oil and put it all back together. It ran fine for another ten years. I would recommend getting some of that engine flushing stuff (it's like diesel in a can) and run it through the engine first though.

Chances are with the tiny weak rods in these engines when the water locked up the engine it bent a rod. Just cleaning it out might allow it to run but I definitely wouldn't trust it without inspecting the rods considering the poor track record these cars have with rod failure.
