Talking Lucky Day!!

This was taken yesterday in DC. The nice police officer let me go without a ticket. Making a left from Constitution onto 15th street there are green, yellow, and red arrows for left turn lanes. Main light was green so I assumed I could turn since no traffic was coming the other way. That's when I noticed the red arrow and the cruiser pulling a U-turn with the lights on. I explained that I didn't see the red arrow until I was 3/4 of the way through the intersection (actually true) and he understood. No ticket! Made me happy.

I've always found that being respectful, polite and honest with cops goes a very long way. Been pulled over too many times to count, and not a ticket in almost 30 years.

No ticket in almost 30 years? Your insurance company should almost be paying you to be with them. Impressive. Most kids going into college easily have 2-4 tickets

yep totally agree. I've gotten a few tickets but none of them have stuck due to my numerous strategies on getting out of them after being issued.

Turn off the car, turn off the radio, put both hands on top of your steering wheel after you get your license and registration out. Cops are people too.

I get plenty of tickets when I was in college the first time, and finally figured out my attitude played a big role. I will admit, though, that for the last 8 years or so I have received some special treatment. I'm in my 3rd (and hopefully final) career, and this time I'm a nurse. I didn't realize until the first few times being pulled over (wearing scrubs) that cops go easy on nurses, unless I suppose one did something truly stupid. Makes sense, as when a cop comes into the ER, even with something minor, they bypass triage and get taken care of immediately, so there's a professional relationship there. And, cops deserve whatever special treatment they get, at least as far as I'm concerned.

As for insurance, I'm still getting screwed. About $280/month for my wife and I. We're college graduates, homeowners, no kids, no points. But, I've got the '08 Z, she's got an '08 Acura TL-S, we're in Florida, and we've got high coverage to protect our assets. I've shopped around, but that's about the going rate for our situation.

I always drive around with a bit of my military gear in the truck/car. Always helps!

I donate to the 100 club. I previously put the sticker on the rear window of a built motor Trans-Am I had. Needless to say, it helped me out from time to time.

Believe it or not you're getting screwed on insurance because you're classed as being in a high stress job You do a fantastic job looking after the health of people but insurance companies class it as high stress because you don't necessarily work at the same sort of pace every day, you're working at moments or periods of high stress and this is what loads your insurance. One of the lowest classes on the insurance scale are office workers.

I read a while ago that people with professional degrees (doctors lawyers etc) tend to cause accidents at a rate higher than the national average.

Went through a DUI check point last night, and I got away ticket free even with my out of date inspection. Why you ask? Because I showed them the ticket from the day before for my inspection.
