Default You guys weren't joking about brake dust!

Holy moly! I've had my 04 Track for less than a week now and the front rims are already covered! And I thought my Audi brakes were messy...

I noticed that today too, was at a dealership and they had an 03 performance with a buttload of dust on the flat inners of the wheels.

I can forsee myself doing a wheels-off cleaning every 3 months... and when I do, anyone know any good stuff to take off the carbon?

I use nothing but water most of the time (sometimes I'll use a little Dawn mixed in, like after track events). The Rays wheels are easy to clean without taking them off...if you have the right equipment. I bought a thin brush (looks very much like a toilet bowl scrubber) and a regular wheel cleaning brush. I use the regular brush for the outside, then the thin brush to get the inside and around the Brembos. Once every couple of weeks, I'll go out with the bucket and brushes. Before it went into storage, I took the wheels off and gave it a good cleaning and waxed the insides of the wheels (I hope this helps keep the "Hoosier boogers" from sticking).

I get some of my stuff from Griot's (www.griotsgarage.com), it's a bit expensive, but they've got quality stuff.

Any comments on a good source to buy Hawk HPS pads?

Maybe someone who will ship to Canada?

PS - Any trade-offs with the Hawks (e.g., squealing)?

www.discoveryparts.com
Mine squeaked when real hot, (like after a track day), and also just intermittently when 1st installed, but quieted down after about 1000 miles.

Hawk HPS's always squeeled for me, so I switched over to Satisfied Performance Ceramic pads from Tire Rack. Even less dust (if you can believe that) than the Hawks, same bite, and no noise. VERY VERY happy with these pads.
