Default DE tranny/clutch?

So just curious if the clutch/tranny on the DEs are touchy, stiff, loose... Ive notice sometimes 1st takes alot to engage even just at a stop and other times it goes in with ease and also shifting to 2nd its like rough and you can kinda feel it in the **** and then other times its smooth.

Ive noticed this on other cars but not as much as the Z. My redline uses a SAAB tranny from the 93 turbo and its been stiff tranny as far as shifting gears not much trouble. Anyways just wondering maybe its normal. Thanks guys

Our tranny is notchy. It's hard to shift just kind of how it's designed. I never had any issues but if you notice grinding it's the synchros. It's all about how you shift as well you kind of have to be gentle and get it in right

I have that same problem. I have an 04 with 84k miles on it. I just changed the transmission oil at 80k and sent a sample of it to Blackstone Labs. They didn't find anything in the oil that would indicate a problem, so I don't believe the transmission is tearing itself apart or anything. 1st gear grinds a little bit for me at very low speeds but doesn't seem to be causing any real issues.

I have 32k miles and NO grinding the gears at all i was just wondering if the Z is known for this as seems a few of you guys can duplicate as long as theres no grinding.

I feeel like i have to press the clutch ALLLLL the way in instead of like %75 where it seems to engage and feel smooth too. But idk what tranny the 04 Z33 Z's have.

YOu have the CD008 tranny. The CD009 is the latest and best but there are issues with those as well although not as common.

Just take it easy on the car and drive it right. Odds are you will not have issues.

My Z is the same way. Bought it at 78k and now have 90k, tranny still feels the same as it did on the first day. It's just how they are.

5th is a classic issue. Skip to 6th from 4th. The clutch is notchy and the "clunk" between gears is normal. Don't worry too much over it.

It's pretty common my z only does that when I'm driving chill and relaxed. When I fly through gears for a bit of sprited driving it's smooth as butter though.
