It sold for about $95,000 to a dealer in Washington state (maybe Oregon). He also bought the last 300ZX made back in '96. The car is silver.

$95,000! I would buy a Cerrara 4S with that kind of money.

Yes, he knew the msrp, which was published almost a year before this auction was held.

Yes, Nissan donated the money to charity.

Also, the current owner of my350z.com was one of the bidders in the auction. As I recall he came in second at about $90K.

Here's an original article before the auction started. The ebay link (www.ebay.com/z) used to work for a while, but it doesn't anymore. http://www.new-cars.com/news/020819-...350z-ebay.html

There is a Mercedes dealership on Long Island, I believe it is Ralley Motors in Roslyn, whose owner bought the 1st of the new Mercedes sportscars for over $1,000, 000 dollars. She did it to honor her late husband. As far as I know, it is sitting on the showroom floor.
Some people need to have the 1st edition of something whether it be books, stamps, coins, etc. Money is not an issue for them. I wish I could say that!!!!
