Default Slip! Slip! Slip!.....

driving home from getting my 15k service done at the dealer, while getting onto the expressway on-ramp, the SLIP light comes on - it flashed like 3 times and it seemed like i lost power...WTF?

i wasn't going excessively fast, i.e. i wasn't on the limit of the cars handling ability so i'm trying to figure out what happened?

my car has no suspension mods, only wheels....

ANYBODY?

thanx.

out back, 20x10 w/ 275/30, up front 20x8.5 w/ 245/35....

i was not even close to flooring it, just cruising along getting into the on-ramp - maybe 45-55 mph....

You have to maintain the same overall tire diameter RATIO from front to back or else the VDC will think a tire is slipping. Have you checked the new sizes?

i've got the enthusiast model - is the VDC standard on this model?
i also remeber reading somewhere that if the TCS system is off, then it won't be a problem... the TCS was on when this happened...

no i didn't check the overall diameter; i know of a number of other Z's that run this size - i wonder if they've run in to this issue also??

This happened once to me as well. I was driving normally and accelerating (not hard) getting onto the freeway. I figured that I musat have hit some loose gravel or somthing. I have an Enthusiast with stock wheels and tires, and the TCS was on.

your size look off to me. though Im not familiar with 20" rim sizes, but I would have guessed you need 30series front and back. as it stands your fronts are larger than it thinks.

it will cause the VDC to kick in whenever the SLIGHTEST loss of traction occurs, little sand in the road or even a turn that gets the wheels moving at different speeds like an on ramp.

Well, I have my stock wheel/tire package on right now, and I get alot more of the slip light. I think it is a little cause the tires have less grip in the cold of winter. But I do get the light, and sometimes I have no idea why.

i get this everynow and then also at times wheni am no where near the limits of the car. i read where there is a flywheel recall on some 2003 Z's and the description for the recall sounds something like this. when i checked the vin numbers on the recall mine is a later number. its the early ones that are being recalled. could this be the culprit?

just yesterday i had this happen to me as well. as with all of you, i was not going fast - around 30-40 then i saw the light blink a few times rapid - dont believe i ran over and ice/gravel - also cut power.

04 enthusiast model, tsc was on.

seems to be a fairly common problem......doesnt bother me that much, though.

that size he has is what is recommended for 20's

That is the sizes I run (except 285)
Very very close to the stock sizes

Have no issues with the VDC light, unless I romp on it, and the Twin Turbos make my tires spin

I have an entusiast as well, stock tires, stock wheels. I notice this as well. MAYBE 1/4 acceleration, last few times.

Hey FB-350 I used to drive with the TCS off until I had to punch it once to get on the freeway. I lost control of the car and almost hit the center divider.

You say you have a 35 profile in the front? A 30 is the proper size.. However I am not sure if the wrong sizes in the front can effect TCS/VDC?

So you "had" to punch it. Gotta love that. What magical force made you have to punch it.......
