Default Need a little professional help.

Hey guys so i have one question and the question is as follows;
Can/should the “service engine soon” light come on if someone replaces the clutch on a 350z? It’s a 2003 if that matters in anyway. Thanks to anyone that helps!

Sure it can - lots of stuff that could trigger a CEL - but until you pull the DTCs, no way to tell what got messed up during the clutch work or if it was just a coincidence.

Yes.

It says engine light but CEL is for almost anything the ECU can detect on the vehicle. Including engine, transmission, ABS and fuel system.

As the others already stated, it surely can, but without specific info on the codes we can't give a real idea of what it is. It could be something as dumb as an O2 sensor not being plugged in all the way, gas cap not being closed (doubt they opened it), etc. I imagine they dropped the exhaust so the O2 sensors were definitely touched or unplugged.

No, it shouldn't normally go on unless something is unplugged. Why are you all saying yes?

OP. Is the car starting and driving normally after this clutch install? Was the car starting and driving normally before this clutch install?..

Key word is "normally". Like others have noted (incl myself), it's not that the clutch itself would/could trigger a CEL/code, more like something in the process of changing the clutch may have faulted the system, e.g., wire loose/unplugged an O2 sensor or somesuch.

We should just wait and see what code pops up if anything before speculating, of course. Like I said, could just be a coincidence it came up and no cause/effect resulted from the clutch work.

It is the flywheel not properly aligned to the engine, the FW have notches that needs to be aligned to the dowel on the crank. The codes will show you readings that relates to cam positioning sensor, the reason is really the flywheel alignment. I have personally dealt with this and found the answer using the search function. Thank me later.
