Default Crankshaft Position Sensor...Connector?

My connector has gone to ****. Cut it off and soldered the wires directly to the CPS sensor and my car no longer took 5 seconds of cranking to start and stopped throwing codes for bad sensor.

Anyone have any experience buying the connectors locally? Save me the time would ya

146 view and no help? I didn't know this site was filled with people who put a $250 exhaust system on their car and call themselves enthusiasts

Just spotted this and have to say with an attitude like that, it's no surprise there's so little interest in responding. In my case, I haven't had any problem with the OEM connectors and hence, no reason to try sourcing a replacement locally.

My wife burnt the toast that morning. I was all riled up.

I'd be very very very careful using the 'I soldered the wires directly to the sensor' mentality moving forward with your build.

You will run into problems where there is a 'hack' fix you can do right now or the right way to fix something but it'll cost you 3 days to get the right part in. You will be very very very tempted to do it...and it will cost you your build. There are plenty of places to economize and not buy the high end stuff and there are plenty of places that you absolutely should buy the high high high end stuff...tread carefully.

For how important your crank shaft position sensor is as it relates to the timing of the engine it'd be foolish to take this shortcut...PM me your address and I'll check to see if I have that pigtail in my stash...

Now that's an offer!

But bealjik makes an important point. Taking hack shortcuts--whether it's for a big build or just a small repair--is never a good idea on a sophisticated modern car. It'll come back and bite you on the aZZ before you know what hit you.

Get the correct connector (gratis, in this case) from an electrical supplier, or the dealer if you must, but GET THE CORRECT ONE for this application. I suspect there are numerous other hacks that are behind other threads in the repair and maintenance section. Shortcuts on something so simple like this can lead to bigger problems down the road.

Yeah the soldering was more along the lines of test to determine if all 3 crankshaft sensors I had were bad, or if it was in fact just the connector.

A local autozone has a nissan crankshaft sensor pigtail in stock, i'm going to give it a try today/tomorrow. If it doesn't fit correctly, i'll pm you my address.. Much thanks.

Ended up going to the local Pick n pull. They had a few G35s but none had the motors or trans so no luck. Grabbed 3 pig tails off some altimas though. They look to be the exact same. Will give it a go. 1.27 per peice. Not bad.

I just bought one from AutoZone because I needed to fix it asap. I told myself I was going to replace it with an OEM piece (identical to the one that failed originally) but it's been perfectly fine for 3 years...

EDIT: NVM I see this thread is for the connector, not the sensor.

I feel I feel. Well if you ever need a connector, I've got 2 extras. Just tried them out. Work like a charm.

To everyone - the connectors are not always compliant with each other. A driver side camshaft position sensor wont fit a passenger side and I don't think they'll fit a crank-shaft position sensor. Essentially, they're idiot proof...

Z33_Vago - what connector do you need? I may have it if Kevin doesn't … feel free to PM me.
