Red face Why you shouldnt race or speed in VA . . .

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...hreadid=176493

A friend of mine sent that to me, and for those of us fellow VA people, we for the most part know speeding and/or racing in VA does not usually work out well.

This was posted about 2 weeks ago, but it could be a scary/good eye opener for some.

Its like that here in parts of Atlanta as well. I think that it varies by county, but I heard that it is an automatic 3 days in jail and 1 year suspension of your license in Cobb County, GA.

Serious stuff!

Default dang!

Dang! I'm glad I don't live over on that coast. It seems they are nuts over there and to top it off radar detectors are illegal there.

Geez, I thought it was bad in Vancouver. Plus, I believe in Virginia you can`t have radar detectors either! They`re still allowed here.
I don`t really have a problem with street racing if it`s done on back roads or in industrial parks were no one who is not involved will get hurt.
Within the last couple years or so here they are changing the laws to clamp down on speeders and street racing.
Kinda sucks.

I'm actually glad cops are being more vigilant about clamping down on street racing. If you're going to race, keep it on the track and don't do it on public streets.

On a track you got MUCH more controlled conditions than any public road, and I don't care how isolated it is or how few people drive on it. I've seen way too many injuries and casualties in the ER from street racers and their innocent victims to say 100% conclusively that it's a very bad idea. Remember, nobody ever goes out driving or racing expecting to get into an accident.

The problem with allowing street races to take place on more isolated roads is that when you give people an inch, most of them take a mile, start making 'exceptions', etc. and invariably someone gets hurt.

Again, keep it on the track. If I ever get injured or lose an innocent loved one to a street racing accident, you can bet there will be hell to pay.

Florida is pretty strict too. I'm sure U've heard of that miami bust. And I've heard of some near my area. They're busting street racers left and right. I remember when I got caught. I wasn't "racing" I was just following some ricers goin 70 in a 45. We all got pulled over, we all went to court. The other two were arrested and I got off kinda. I had to take a mistameador class and he would clear the charges. I finally figured out how real this all is but I still be people gathering at one particular area on a saturday night and then heading out to race on the highway.
