Tyre wear
Hi there everyone,i have a question for the mechanicaly minded gents,i have a 2004 z33 fairlady roadster, yesterday i changed my tyres, and the back left tyre had considerable wear at the edge of the iner wall where the top wall meets the iner wall to the point where white bits were coming through, after i changed the tyres i noticed when driving the back left scraped when i went over bumps and around bends or turning this is only the back left, any ideas what the problem is and how to remedy it?

Um, yeah, I'm still puzzling over "...considerable wear at the edge of the iner wall where the top wall meets the iner wall".... Presuming you mean the shoulder of the tire; but guessing at that. Regardless, sounds like a camber issue which is not adjustable so probably means a broken suspension piece, like the lower link (camber arm) itself, upper suspension link (pseudo control arm), etc. Or if lucky, just some worn bushings.
Thank's for reply, the tyre has been disposed of,by my fitment centre, bat we had a good look and nothing broken or out of place, unfortunately the fiment centre dont do alignment, but they suggested may be worn bushes.but wich bushes would i replace?i will furs do the alignment.
a bit more info on the tire and wheel size would help. Are you running oem size ? or are you running some aftermarket wheel and tires ?
Also, when you say scrapping, what does the tire actually scrap to ?
Bring it to a reputable alignment shop and get the car readouts. Either the tire was bad or something is not right on the alignment.
To check the bushing yourself, please follow:
Lift the rear safely and high enough for you to see all bushings and ball joints, have a strong friend try to wiggle the wheel at 12 and 6 and 10 and 3, to see which bushing is giving up play. There is 4 connection to the knuckle. there is the ball joint on the top. the toe connection with the spring bucket, the camber connection and the most front arm is the traction rod ( which is a "caster" setting). Uneven limited wear would indicate too much toe.
If none of the bushing are moving, but the wheel can moves, then you have a bad wheel bearing.

Hi there, i am nit much of a mechanical person, but will pass all the info onto my mate thst is excellent,as i am also disabled, how it all happened is i have only owned the car for about 2 months, and wanted some desent tyres,so after ectensive research i decided on the michelin pilot sport,i do not have stock alloys i have 275/235/19 on back and 245/235/19 on front, the reason i only change the back was because the back was 275/30/19 and i wanted the same profile as front, and as i said google research said for the 19 inch alloys the best was the above size.i managed to find and buy to michelins with the same profile as front and same thread left.So when i got them fitted this week,i was shown the left back tyre with the iner wall damage, the right tyre was perfect wear, and once fitted i noticed the scraping but only on the left,i did a bit of driving to day,and the scraping is quite pronounced over any little bump or small pot hole,i had to park today, right side on the cerb,on was ok but when I reverced of it scraped baddly on the outer edge of the left tyre, taking bits of,and whilst on the curb the left tyre outer wall was touching the fender.so that it in a nutshell no problems with the right only left.oh and well done Englanf on rugby win today.i am South African myself so big one tomorrow for me.
